It is not a secret that many regions in the world are experiencing extremely dry periods with poor
rainfall and increasing average temperatures. We decided to focus on the southern African region
where, according to the UN, the devastating ongoing drought has exposed over 9.6 million people to
food insecurity. New nutritional pulses that are adapted to these dry environments are needed.
