​ ​ ​ ​Meat​ ​products​ ​of​ ​india​ ​,​ ​a​ ​Kerala​ ​Govt​ ​owned​ ​company​ ​engaged​ ​in​ ​production​ ​and​ ​marketing
of​ ​various​ ​meat​ ​and​ ​meat​ ​products​ ​derived​ ​from​ ​pork​ ​,beef,chicken,​ ​mutton​ ​and​ ​buffalo.​ ​The
products​ ​of​ ​MPI​ ​are​ ​from​ ​young​ ​and​ ​healthy​ ​livestock​ ​and​ ​are​ ​processed​ ​by​ ​the​ ​help​ ​of
sophisticated​ ​technology​ ​to​ ​ensure​ ​high​ ​standards​ ​of​ ​hygiene​ ​,longer​ ​storage​ ​time​ ​and​ ​nutritive
value.​ ​The​ ​processed​ ​and​ ​semi​ ​cooked​ ​products​ ​include​ ​corn​ ​beef​ ​,meat​ ​loaf​ ​,​ ​sausages​ ​,
Curries,​ ​bacon,​ ​ham,cutlet​ ​_mix,​ ​chicken​ ​harm​ ​and​ ​salami.​ ​Sausages,​ ​one​ ​of​ ​the​ ​most​ ​popular
of​ ​the​ ​MPI​ ​products​ ​range​ ​come​ ​in​ ​varities​ ​such​ ​as​ ​cocktail​ ​sausages​ ​,​ ​pork​ ​sausages,​ ​chicken
pepperoni​ ​sausage​ ​and​ ​masala​ ​sausage​ ​.​ ​MPI​ ​is​ ​holding​ ​MFPO​ ​LIcense​ ​No​ ​1​ ​under​ ​A.​ ​The
products​ ​are​ ​manufactured​ ​under​ ​strict​ ​veterinary​ ​supervision​ ​from​ ​selected​ ​animals​ ​free​ ​from
zoonotic​ ​disease.​ ​MPI​ ​products​ ​are​ ​available​ ​with​ ​all​ ​leading​ ​super​ ​markets​ ​and​ ​cold​ ​storages
throughout​ ​Kerala​ ​and​ ​other​ ​states.

In​ ​tune​ ​with​ ​the​ ​varied​ ​demands​ ​of​ ​the​ ​market​ ​,​ ​the​ ​products​ ​are​ ​available​ ​in​ ​different​ ​weights
and​ ​quality​ ​in​ ​poly​ ​packing​ ​and​ ​cans.​ ​The​ ​company​ ​is​ ​selling​ ​25-30​ ​tonnes​ ​of​ ​meat​ ​products​ ​per
month.​ ​MPI​ ​uses​ ​latest​ ​technologies​ ​in​ ​packing​ ​vaccum​ ​packing​ ​,plate​ ​freezing​ ​etc​ ​.New
products​ ​include​ ​canned​ ​products​ ​which​ ​can​ ​be​ ​stored​ ​in​ ​open​ ​air​ ​upto​ ​2​ ​years.​ ​Currently​ ​MPI​ ​is
focusing​ ​on​ ​Kerala​ ​markets​ ​only.

Period​ ​of​ ​internship

An​ ​internship​ ​was​ ​done​ ​at​ ​Meat​ ​products​ ​of​ ​India​ ​Ltd.​ ​Edayar,​ ​Koothattukulam.​ ​The
organisation​ ​ ​was​ ​chosen​ ​for​ ​its​ ​unique​ ​existence​ ​and​ ​performance​ ​as​ ​a​ ​public​ ​undertaking.​ ​The
internship​ ​was​ ​done​ ​from​ ​5-12-2017​ ​to​ ​31-12-2017.​ ​The​ ​summer​ ​internship​ ​was​ ​aimed​ ​to​ ​make
the​ ​student​ ​aware​ ​of​ ​the​ ​various​ ​transactions​ ​happening​ ​in​ ​the​ ​company​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​to​ ​share​ ​the
work​ ​of​ ​the​ ​main​ ​employees​ ​with​ ​in​ ​ONE​ ​MONTH.​ ​Thus​ ​the​ ​practical​ ​knowledge​ ​of​ ​the​ ​intern
becomes​ ​significantly​ ​improved​ ​within​ ​the​ ​specified​ ​period​ ​by​ ​sharing​ ​ ​ ​the​ ​various​ ​works.​ ​By
the​ ​specified​ ​time​ ​duration,​ ​the​ ​intern​ ​becomes​ ​efficient​ ​to​ ​handle​ ​various​ ​tasks​ ​by​ ​utilising
his/her​ ​practical​ ​knowledge​ ​received​ ​from​ ​the​ ​firm​ ​by​ ​playing​ ​a​ ​significant​ ​role​ ​in​ ​accomplishing
various​ ​projects​ ​which​ ​are​ ​showered​ ​over​ ​him/her​ ​.​ ​The​ ​one​ ​month​ ​give​ ​the​ ​student​ ​a​ ​golden
opportunity​ ​to​ ​expose​ ​the​ ​inborn​ ​managerial​ ​talents​ ​in​ ​front​ ​of​ ​the​ ​concerned​ ​management​ ​of
the​ ​company​ ​and​ ​thereby​ ​creates​ ​an​ ​element​ ​of​ ​credence​ ​on​ ​the​ ​budding​ ​managers.

Every​ ​academic​ ​project​ ​and​ ​other​ ​studies​ ​extend​ ​an​ ​opportunity​ ​for​ ​the​ ​student​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​and
work​ ​with​ ​some​ ​other​ ​peers​ ​from​ ​other​ ​academic​ ​institutions​ ​.​ ​My​ ​internship​ ​made​ ​me​ ​to​ ​work
with​ ​one​ ​interns​ ​;there​ ​enormous​ ​support​ ​and​ ​cooperation​ ​also​ ​helped​ ​me​ ​to​ ​accomplish​ ​my
predetermined​ ​intentions.

OBJECTIVES
*To​ ​familiarise​ ​with​ ​the​ ​ ​business​ ​organisation​ ​to​ ​relate​ ​theory​ ​ ​with​ ​practise
*​ ​To​ ​familiarise​ ​with​ ​an​ ​organisation​ ​structure​ ​and​ ​its​ ​functioning.
*​ ​To​ ​familiarise​ ​with​ ​the​ ​different​ ​departments​ ​in​ ​the​ ​organisation​ ​and​ ​their​ ​functions​ ​ ​and
activities​ ​including​ ​documentation
*​ ​To​ ​ ​enable​ ​the​ ​students​ ​to​ ​understand​ ​the​ ​ ​key​ ​business​ ​process​ ​are​ ​carried​ ​out​ ​in​ ​an
organisation
*​ ​To​ ​understand​ ​how​ ​the​ ​information​ ​is​ ​used​ ​in​ ​organisation​ ​for​ ​decision​ ​making​ ​at​ ​various
levels​ ​including​ ​data​ ​flow​ ​diagram
*​ ​To​ ​conduct​ ​SWOT​ ​Analysis
*​ ​To​ ​study​ ​the​ ​financial​ ​performance​ ​of​ ​the​ ​organisation​ ​by​ ​doing​ ​financial​ ​analysis

SERVICES

● Production​ ​of​ ​hygienic​ ​and​ ​good​ ​quality​ ​meat​ ​and​ ​meat​ ​products
● To​ ​ensure​ ​continues​ ​supply​ ​of​ ​hygienically​ ​processed​ ​meat​ ​products​ ​for​ ​the
non-vegetarian​ ​population​ ​of​ ​Kerala
● Help​ ​in​ ​improving​ ​nutritional​ ​status​ ​of​ ​the​ ​people​ ​by​ ​providing​ ​good​ ​quality​ ​meat​ ​at
reasonable​ ​price.
● Increase​ ​per​ ​capita​ ​availability​ ​of​ ​quality​ ​meat​ ​in​ ​the​ ​state
● ​ ​Decrease​ ​the​ ​dependence​ ​on​ ​neighbouring​ ​states​ ​for​ ​meat​ ​and​ ​meat​ ​products
● Increase​ ​the​ ​rearing​ ​and​ ​production​ ​of​ ​good​ ​quality​ ​meat​ ​animals​ ​in​ ​the​ ​state.
● Support​ ​meat​ ​anim​al​ ​ ​farmers​ ​through​ ​buy​ ​back​ ​schemes.
● Production​ ​of​ ​quality​ ​feeds​ ​to​ ​support​ ​the​ ​animals​ ​farmers​ ​in​ ​Kerala.

​ ​ ​ ​Limitation​ ​of​ ​the​ ​study

● The​ ​staffs​ ​were​ ​cooperative,​ ​but​ ​they​ ​were​ ​constrained​ ​by​ ​time​ ​due​ ​to​ ​their​ ​huge
schedule.
● The​ ​company​ ​personnel​ ​do​ ​not​ ​reveal​ ​the​ ​trade​ ​secrets​ ​and​ ​some​ ​confidential
information​ ​like​ ​financial​ ​and​ ​marketing​ ​etc…..
● There​ ​is​ ​no​ ​choice​ ​for​ ​finding​ ​the​ ​problems;​ ​markets​ ​etc…​ ​because​ ​there​ ​are​ ​no
research​ ​activities​ ​are​ ​carried​ ​out.
● Since​ ​the​ ​job​ ​satisfaction​ ​of​ ​the​ ​employees​ ​is​ ​a​ ​mental​ ​attitude,it​ ​cannot​ ​be​ ​measured
accurately.
● The​ ​time​ ​duration​ ​of​ ​the​ ​study​ ​was​ ​only​ ​ ​25​ ​days,it​ ​is​ ​not​ ​possible​ ​to​ ​do​ ​full​ ​justice​ ​to​ ​the
study​ ​with​ ​in​ ​such​ ​short​ ​period.
