Evidence: Colombian cultural ambassador.

For this evidence, you need to choose eight (8) Colombian idiomatic expressions.

1)

• Expression: “Las cuentas claras y el chocolate espeso”.

• Example: Bueno, vamos a hablar sobre ello pero dejemos las cuentas claras y el
chocolate espeso.
• Meaning: This expression is used to refer when two or more people decided to speak
clearly, bluntly and honestly about some specific subject.

2)

 Expression:”Colgar los guayos”.

 Example: Manuel, ¿si se enteró que José colgó los guayos?
 Meaning: It alludes to death. This expression is used to refer when someone has
died, in others words is like to say the person has hung his shoes and will never
wear them again because he has died. The word “Guayo” it's refer to a shoe.
3)

 Expression: “Tengo un filo, que si me agacho me corto”.

 Example: Vayamos a comer algo que tengo un filo y si me agacho me corto.
 Meaning: This expression is used when you have a lot of hungry, you need to
eat something or you feel like a knife is cutting your stomach.

 Expression: “Tener culebras”.

 Example: Tengo unas culebras que me persiguen, debo hacer algo con ellas.
 Meaning: This expression is used when you have a lot of debt and no money. It follows
you like a snake.

 Expression: “Hacer vaca”

 Example: ¿Por qué no hacemos una vaca para el paseo?
 Meaning: This expression is used when you and your friends or family want to make
some travel, or activity but don’t have enough money each one, so everyone decided to
“hacer una vaca” or “make a cow”, it means collect money together for the common
cause.

 Expression: “El que tiene tienda que la atienda”.

 Example: Yo no sé porque tienen un sitio si no tienen vocación de servicio,
definitivamente el que tiene tienda que la atienda, sino que la venda.
 Meaning: This expression is used when one arrives at a neighborhood business or
store, and the attention is poor, or even the seller who offers what they have is not
found.

 Expression: “Baila como un trompo”.

 Example: Ese man baila como un
trompo.
 Meaning: This expression is used
when a person dances very well and
moves better than one thought.

 Expression: “Me le baja al

tonito”
 Example: A mí no me grite,
me hace el favor y me le baja
al tonito que soy su mamá.
 Meaning: This expression is
used when you are arguing
with someone and that person
raises his voice. It is usually
said by our mothers.
