Article Review: Determining Sample Size: How to Ensure You Get the Correct Sample Size

The sample size determination is very crucial to the survey as it brings out lots of costs, time and
manpower also the respondents needs to be just enough to get the necessary information. Firstly we
have to look over the target market and how big it is and after that we will determine the sample size
based on various sample size variables. Demographic fit is the first variable to look as we will need the
perfect demographics sample population. You will also need to determine margin of error as no sample
size is perfect and there will always be some error which needs to be calculated in terms of a margin.
Confidence level and standard deviation also need to be calculated in order to properly quantify the
sample size population.

So from the above mentioned variables, the formula is derived which is

Necessary Sample Size = (Z-score)2 * Standard Deviation*(1-StdDev) / (margin of error) 2

Note: The confidence level should be managed if the sample size is too high
