Lesson Plan: College Level Vocabulary

Time:​ 50 minutes

Lesson Objective​: Order some dishes they want to eat at a restaurant. (In a customer and waitress
conversation role-play, students will be evaluated in the following context: using new vocabulary
in a correct form and context.)

-Vocabulary Lists
-Dialogues Handouts
-Evaluation Checklist
-Listening Grid

Equipment​:
-Overhead Projector
-Chalk
-Chalk Board

Stages of the Lesson​:

Warm-Up/Review​ (5 minutes)
From previous lessons, review the meanings of prefixes and some examples of words that have
prefixes.

Introduction
"Today we are going to learn more new prefixes and how to use them in your real-life
situations."

Presentation​ (25 minutes)


1. Introduce some new prefixes and vocabulary they are going to learn in this class.
2. Explain the meanings of the words and examples of how to use them in sentences.
3. Read an example of dialogue to the students.
4. Pass out the dialogue handouts to the students.
5. Have the students practice the dialogues in pairs.
6. Have the students switch partners and make their original dialogues by themselves using
new vocabulary.

Practice​ (5 minutes)
1. Have the students practice their original dialogues.

Evaluation​ (15 minutes)


1. Have the students come to the front of the room in pairs and show the dialogues to the
class.
2. Have the students in the audience listen to the performance and write comments for each
pair on the evaluation sheet.
