Theme Paper #2: Loving and Relating

“My Haven”

“The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately
without growing apart” -Elisabeth Foley. A person can be acquainted with many persons in
their life but only some stay with you forever. True friends stay with you through thick or
thin. It stands for a relationship free of any judgements. It is a haven where you can be
yourself and feel love and accepted. True friends give you both a sense of security and
freedom. They get happy of your success, feel sad for your failures, fight with you for silly
things, gets angry for your mistakes and hugs you when you feel down.

Friendship is both loving and relating to one another. I chose this photo because it
shows the people who I both love and relate to. Meeting them was one of the best things
that ever happened to me. They were able to see through me; they saw the real me. Even
with all of my insecurities, they accepted me for who I am. I have always felt secured
because I know that whenever I need them, they will always be by my side. Maintaining our
friendship wasn’t easy. We had to transfer to other schools and be separated from one
another. We got too busy with school works and forgot to maintain close communication.
We were able to meet new set of friends along the way but I know that the distance
between us will not change anything.
Tolerance, patience, trust and loyalty kept us strong. We accepted all of our
differences and cherish one another. Our genuine love and care for each other made us
through tough times. Loving and relating to one another formed our bond. Now I know that
I have a friend who will stay by my side even when the rest have turned their backs. Our
friendship helped us grow. We may fight sometimes but we see each other hugging the next
minute. We share each other’s sorrow, pain, and happiness. We have not been able to meet
one another for about a year already but they will always be my haven. A place I know I can
call home.
