Write an example of the reaction which is characterised by

1. Change in colour
2. Evolution of heat
3. Formation of precipitate
4. Evolution of a gas

Ans: Iron + Copper sulphate -- Iron sulphate + Copper

Sodium + Water – Sodium Hydroxide + Hydrogen Gas + Heat

Barium chloride + Potassium sulphate – Barium Sulphate + Potassium Chloride

Why cannot be a chemical change be reversed?

Why is it always essential to balance a chemical equation?

Why should a magnesium ribbon be cleaned before it is burnt in air?

Ans: Magnesium is a very reactive metal. When stored, it reacts with oxygen to form a layer of
magnesium oxide on its surface . This layer of magnesium oxide is quite stable and prevents
further reaction of magnesium with oxygen. Magnesium ribbon is cleaned before burning in
air so that this layer of magnesium oxide can be removed in order to get the desired chemical
reaction.

Why one should not store copper sulphate in an iron vessel ?

Iron is more reactive than copper, it will react with copper sulphate and holes will be created
in iron vessel after sometime
