To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of James McKenzie. I had the pleasure of working with Mr.
McKenzie for a few weeks as he was a student teacher assigned with me. Over the course of
eight weeks, I saw him develop confidence, well thought out lessons, and an ability to break
down difficult tasks into small manageable pieces. There are a number of things about Mr.
McKenzie that stand out. He is a good person and colleague to work with.

The first thing that stands out about Mr. McKenzie is his creativity. He likes to compose music
which gives him a deep knowledge of music theory. I was very appreciative of his self-reflection
and willingness to try new things improve his teaching. He is very creative in coming up with
new ideas to challenge students, ignite passion, and meet the students where they are as
individuals.

Mr. McKenzie is very good at building rapport with students. He builds positive relationships
with students and colleagues. He was able to reach some of the most difficult students and all
of my students really enjoyed working with him. When working with my intermediate students,
he was able to hone their skills and push the more advanced students as well. With my
beginning students, he came up with new ideas to meet them where they were and get them
engaged.

I believe Mr. McKenzie would be a good fit for a school looking for someone who can build
relationships with students, help them to love music. He has the patience to reach even the
most challenging students. When he struggles, he comes back with fresh ideas. I give him my
highest recommendation with no reservations.
