Reagents:

 Basic fuchsine 0 .5g/100 ml


 1M HCl 10 ml/100 ml
 Na2S2O5 1g/100ml
 Add water to make to 100 ml

Preparation:

1. Add the powder to 50 ml water and heat gently (do not boil) and leave a bit to cool
2. Add the HCl when still hot to touch
3. Add the Na2S2O5 when the solution reaches room temp.
4. Let the solution capped overnight
5. Add activated charcoal ~1g and stir for 30 min
6. Filter and store in an amber glass bottle

Procedure:

1. Add 2 ml reagent to 1 ml sample and mix


2. After 30 min the fuchsine colour develops

*this is qualitative

A quantitative procedure will be developed once I find a use for it.

Sensibility around ~1μM
