In our recent project Text To Web Remediation, it allowed me to learn and understand
how to properly develop a professional website. To create a website out of an essay you wrote
sounds easy, but it takes much more than just writing a few paragraphs. It involves more visuals,
color schemes, more statistics, videos, and most importantly it has to be organized well enough
for the audience to understand. Although an essay and a website are very similar when it comes
to certain information they both provide they do have some differences. An essay can present an
argument and a persuasive statement while a website can also argue something or persuade
readers. The difference between the two is the format of each is very distinct and the way
information is presented is also different. An essay has to be in paragraphs while a website has to
include much more than just content. A website transforms an essay into a live site where people
can click on different tabs for different pieces of information. A website and the way its
formatted offers the audience the whole experience of what you are trying to advocate for, argue,
In my essay “The Single-Use Ban isn’t Enough”, I wrote about the negative impact
plastic pollution has on marine species health and ecosystems. I chose to write about this topic
because I feel like the problem hasn't been resolved. I am also very passionate about caring for

our planet and also the species, nature, that come with it. I also feel that it's our fault plastic
pollution continues to exist; we should take responsibility and help end plastic pollution. My
primary audience included consumers of plastic and my secondary audience was the younger
generation. In my essay, it was organized in paragraphs in Mla format with the font Times new
roman. My essay included statistical data as well as images. The structure was very plain and had
to be double spaced. Of course, my essay clearly presented what I was arguing for with the use
My website was able to actually display my argument with many more things such as
videos, more visuals including the way tabs were organized. My website was organized very
differently compared to the essay format. It included the following tabs in order from an
overview, research, statistics, solutions, references, and the about page at the very end. Each
individual tab had different information and visuals that were once part of my essay. For
example, in the overview, I took parts of my essay and put it into the website to make it look like
an informative paper.
In the remediation process, I was able to change the visual aspect of it the most. I was
able to add color schemes that reflected the serious topic I was writing about. Color schemes
such as the color grey, blue, and green in different tabs on my website. On my website, I was
also able to add videos and images where ever I wanted to in order to appeal to my audience
more. In an essay, you cannot just add an image wherever it had to be put somewhere in between
paragraphs. My website offered an interactive section for my audience to utilize and I think by
Through this assignment I was able to learn how complex creating a website can be with
the content you're providing as well as the certain outside media you use. The content you
provide is essential to catch the reader's attention as well as the visuals. The style of the website
also matters because it needs to match the topic you are writing about. For example, the color
scheme has to correlate with the topic you are writing about and the font has to be clear and
formal website format. For me, I could not just copy and paste my whole global crisis essay
because it would not represent a good quality website and would look poorly done. I had to
incorporate parts of my essay into the website while also adding extra information, titles,
designs, and other information to make it into an engaging website. I located additional media by
either using the Csun database or finding authentic websites on the internet. I located the
additional images for my website through websites I found very credible and chose the most
recent images. I found credible and authentic websites on the internet by looking for the authors
of the website as well as the date it was published, checking the links the website had to make
sure they were actual links, and checked their contact information.
