Company Law 1 – Week 1

Discuss your motivation to study corporate law. Why did you decide to

take this class?

Ever since the development of corporations or companies, law has hugely shaped
how firms act and develop. Some might even say they revolve around law itself.
With this understanding, corporations implement different policies and law within
their own firm or market. This ideology intrigued my motivation to further
understand the intricate laws existing within the company and the external
policies that affect such legislations.

A year ago, while learning business ethics, I was interested in the hidden ethical
dilemma corporations had to face and the understandings regarding to decision
making. While having learnt the practical basics for business administration, I
needed to understand other factors that may influence a managerial experience.
Eventually, I came across this subject. Having always wanted to partake a class
regarding law, Ajou University lacked adequate law classes that could fulfil my
needs. However, having looked over the basics of ‘Company Law’, the class itself
presented me with a vast array of business law related subjects. In addition,
classes taught in English has always been a preference. Having learnt English
before Korean and my years of having live abroad, I was always fond of taking
English based lectures as it felt more familiar in terms of what I used to take.
Therefore, with the two combinations aforementioned, this class motivated me to
study and understand the depths of corporate law.

After having experienced the hardships of Korean online enrolment for the 4th
year, I could finally take ‘Company Law’ as a lecture.
