To Whom It May Concern:
1 am writing this letter of recommendation for Ms. Ellyn Dankers in her pursuit of a teaching
position in your school district. I have known Ellyn as her professor in the Rochester Education
Department at Winona State University. I was able to teach Ms. Dankers in the classroom as her
professor in both the STEM and Ethnographers methods courses, data course, theory, and kid
watching courses. I also observed Ellyn in the field setting, which allowed me to see her
interactions with elementary students,
Ms. Dankers is always well prepared and her lessons well planned. Ellyn’s lessons always
include assessment of students’ background knowledge, scaffolding, and questions that allow for
higher level thinking. She is reflective before, during, and after teaching each lesson, Ms.
Dankers takes feedback and incorporates it into each subsequent lesson, showing growth, Ellyn
is able to work hard and improves her teaching by seeking out and then incorporating
constructive feedback into her lessons.
I believe that she will continue to grow and become even more effective as a teacher with the
experiences a classroom teaching position will provide her. [ look forward to seeing her being a
more culturally competent teacher. Feel free to contact me with any further questions about her
outstanding performance at dawn.castagno-dysart@mnsu.edu or by phone at 573.819.9067.
