When I first started this class back at the beginning of 2020 I had little idea how helpful and

resourceful this class would be. What originally started as a just a general education class quickly

turned into an important time to learn valuably life skills. Whether it was public speaking,

reaching out to strangers, working and communicating with classmates, or just observing

stranger’s non verbal communication, this course helped push me outside my comfort zone to

learn and grow as an effective communicator.

Communication is a constant process and is always happening before our eyes whether we see it

or not. For example, even when someone is not talking or saying anything, their body language

and motion dictate a bigger picture that communicates a message. Learning how to not only

refine but develop these social ques has helped my become a more effective communicator with

my family, friends and associates.

One of my favorite projects this semester was our interview project. We were required to reach

out to a professional in the career of our choosing and schedule a time and day to interview them

to find out more about their profession. I loved this project because it really stretched me to find

someone I didn’t know and reach out to them in a professional manner and find out more about

what they do. Not only did it help me learn more about their life and profession, but I learned

more about myself along the way and what I want to do with my future.

I have grown in multiple ways throughout this course and I will always hold on to the little

details that I learned that will help me in the future develop as a person, student, and friend.
