Abstract

Recently, blockchain technology that works on distributed ledger has gain a lot of
interest from various domain of technologiescreated a lot of hype and has a huge
potential in bringing out innovations in various domain technology because of its
transparency, security and involvement of multiple players. Depletion of energy
sources is an inevitable challenge to the world and one of the most challenging
issues is equitable distribution of energy and power. There are various aspects in
energy sector where blockchain can be successfully used such as in generation,
transmission and distribution system. The objective of this paper is to present a
snapshot of use cases of block chain in energy sector and undergoing work. The
methodology implement in this paper is analytical where various patent data are
collected to record a patent landscape. The paper tries to give the technology gap in
the field of use of blockchain in combating underlying problems in energy sector.
This paper has an implication in future because of its analytical and scope finding
nature. This will help innovators in determining precise area where they can apply
their effort to bring solutions.
