Introduction

Our group name is Ice Cream Scoop because we’re cool and awesome. Our project
mainly focuses on printing services provided by DLSU Scoop. Full name of DLSU Scoop is
Multi-Purpose Student Co-Operative, and is founded by Tapat Partylist. Aside from printing,
they provide services for ID and membership cards. Also, their current president is Tiffany Go.

Current State Analysis

There are several problems regarding the issue in the forms of the process, environment,
the people and the management. In addition, the current equipment will have to be upgraded and
improved. The current SCOOP Printing Services does not incur many costs to the business
operations of De La Salle University. The only costs that it incurs for the university are electrical
consumption costs. The operating periods of the SCOOP Printing Services are on Monday to
Thursday, from 10am to 5pm. In addition, the personnel shifts are based on a voluntary system.
The key factors that result to inefficient processes and costs are caused by the ineffective
voluntary system, wherein there are no actual volunteers in some times of the day. Moreover, the
current process of receiving and providing services is currently slow which results to long
queuing lines that can turn away potential customers.

Proposed Solutions
Our process flow for improvements in our project was: Plan, Upgrade, Adjust, Organize,
and Control. We first plan on what will be our solution for the printing services of Scoop. Then,
we upgrade our equipment into a modern one, and adjust our prices into Piso Printing. After that,
we organize the space inside in order to avoid chaos, and control the printing services for a long
period of time.

With this, our proposed solutions are: add 2 more printers, invest in USB hubs (CD R-
King) that to be replaced every 6 months, print online advertisements, adjust prices which we
introduce Piso Print, and hire 1 employee and 1 volunteer students. This will motivate students
that they will be Junior Officers-in-training, and will require 30 hours of work for 1 term.

We conducted a survey that consists of 4 questions: (1) Have you ever tried printing in
Scoop? (2) If you answered Yes in #1, did you find the services slow or fast? (3) If you
answered No in #1, do you think the price is worth it? (4) Would you go to Scoop if they
improve their services? Below this are graphs and discussions for our survey

Fig 1.1 Have You Ever Tried Printing in Scoop?

In this figure, 13 people answered Yes while 12 people answered No. A lot of people still
did not know what Scoop is because they did not have any advertisements and their location is
beside the clinic and DLSU Bookstore. They also didn’t notice Scoop because Scoop frequently
opens their store (usually in the morning), and they are closed during Special Term.
Fig 1.2 If You Answered Yes in #1, Did You Find the Services Slow or Fast?

In this figure, 7 people said their printing services were fast while 6 people said it was
slow. They said tend to wait for a long time that’s why they are starting to get annoyed due to
long cueing, and sometimes printing jam.

Fig 1.3 If You Answered No in #1, Do You Think The Price Is Worth It?

In this figure, only 1 person said that their price is worth is, 8 persons did not think the
price is worth it, and 3 persons are abstain. They said that it is really expensive compared to
outside the school, which is only 1 peso per page. This 3 persons are abstain because they said
that they did not care how much is it.
Fig 1.4 Would You Go To Scoop If They Improve Their Services?

In this figure, 24 people said that they would really go back to Scoop if they improve their
services and 1 person said he would not go back to Scoop. These 24 people said that Scoop
must improve their equipment in order to have faster time to print, and 1 person said that he
already had a printer in their house.

Financial Date
Standardization

To standardize the improvements of our project, our group thought that it would be best
to have maintenance every 6 months, and update the printer if there’s a brand new and cheap
one.

Conclusion

With SGA, it really helped our group to work together as a team and improve our
interaction with each other. Also, we applied for what we have learned in HUMANBE such as
having communication, life cycle of a team, encountering & resolving our problems, and avoid
dysfunctional role behaviors of members
