In writing a speech, you should not put many ideas into your speech. Because
people remember very little from the speeches, so just give them one or two ideas
to hang onto. The more conversational you can make it sound, the better. Concrete
details keep people more interested. Speak about a topic you’re interested in and
know a lot about. Reinforce your message with facts and statistics, if possible.
After you’ve written a draft of your speech, go back and look for words you can
cut because it can make your points more clear. Use some quotes or some of your
experiences in life so that it will help you to persuade people if you have statistics
or other facts in your speech. And in the end of your speech, wrap everything up
and drive home main idea, whether that’s through providing a few (one or three)
key takeaways, or telling one last story that perfectly illustrates your point.
