Wellness Medium and Your Wellness Plan

1. What medium have you chosen? Please describe and/or attach/upload visual.

I have put together a visual collage of three female silhouette figures performing various
types of exercises. One of the figures is performing aerobic exercise, another is
performing strength/resistance training with a barbell, and the last figure is doing a
flexibility exercise. Respectively, these three types of exercises help to improve
endurance, increase muscle mass, and maintain flexibility.

2. What does this medium represent to you? Why? Please describe why this is meaningful.

This collage represents my passion for fitness. Outside of nursing school, I spend a lot of
time at the University of Arizona Campus Recreation Center and other gyms/fitness
studios in Tucson. I love participating in group fitness classes, as the class environment
motivates me to push myself even more than I would do on my own. After I began taking
these classes, I noticed that my mood, sleep habits, and energy levels had vastly
improved. Fitness is not only a hobby that helps promote my overall physical health, but
it has also greatly improved my mental well-being. It has assisted me in dealing with the
stressors associated with nursing school and others areas of my life, and also serves as a
social activity. There is a big community aspect of group fitness that creates such as
supportive and encouraging environment. One of my favorite parts about group fitness is
meeting other students and Tucson community members who share a similar passion for
fitness as me.

3. Post your personal wellness commitment statement and plan to care for YOU below. Be
specific.

My personal wellness commitment is to continue to prioritize my physical and mental


health with the help of regular physical activity throughout my preceptorship rotation. I
intend to do this by participating in at least three group fitness classes a week for the
entire month of March. Lately, it has been difficult to remain on a consistent workout
schedule due to a recent change in my school schedule. Now that I am on night shift three
days a week, I understand that my fitness routine won’t be as regular, but I want to make
sure that I continue my attendance to preserve my physical and mental well-being.
