WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM - As at 24 April, the launch date for WHS in
England remains at 2nd November 2020. Whilst it’s not been ideal that there have
been lack of scores so far this year, EG report that this will not impact on the
transition from CONGU to WHS as they will be using records from January 2018.
Development of the new CDH platform is continuing. Alongside the Central
Platform, there will also be an access point for Clubs and a link into a newly
designed players area.
GOLF RULES - After 5 weeks of lockdown, are you looking for something else
to do? Hopefully it won’t be long before we’re back out playing, but in the
meantime, why not revise your knowledge of the Rules of Golf. Take a quick quiz

South Beds Lady Captain, Jacky Levinson has been
trying to keep herself, busy, fit and occupied during lockdown
prompting her to take up the 2.6 Challenge which has been
widely publicised. The idea is to do 2.6 of something to raise
money for the charities who will be losing so much income due
to the cancellation of the London Marathon. Jacky has decided
to run a total of 26.2 miles over the coming week and has set up
a justgiving page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Jacky-
Levinson1 Jacky would be really grateful for support with this
as any proceeds will be donated to her Charity, East Anglian Air
Ambulance; a vital key worker service who are as desperate for
financial help as every other charity not being funded at this
very difficult time.
Mount Pleasant Ladies complete challenges to raise money
for charity . So, the Ladies have been accepting challenges set by
the Ladies Committee. They put a £1 in a pot each time they take
part in a challenge to be collected together when normal life
resumes in aid of Parkinsons UK. Some of the challenges we have
had so far: To write a poem or limerick about spring : Art/craft
Challenge - To create something new in 2 weeks - using any media.
: Learn a few phrases in an unusual language so that when we all
get together again we can 'speak in tongues' : Submit songs for a
Ladies section playlist for the party we are going to have when the
craziness ends. The first 2 showed the fantastic talent of our ladies.
Susanne won the poem challenge with ‘Spring.’ Anne Bolland won
the art challenge with her picture of ‘Reg’ the dog.

Pavenham Ladies have a website ‘Ladies in
Lockdown” Section, where they send in little
snippets of information, fun activities, photos etc.
Anything to keep in touch and encourage laughter.
Our Lady Captain Kath Caiger, has been sending out
a Newsletter to all Ladies via email and on, Tuesday,
our Ladies morning she sent out a Picture Quiz for us
to do. This was be followed up with the answers in
the evening, along with a Round of Questions all via
Zoom!!! To take part in the Quiz we were asked to
make a voluntary contribution to our Charity for the
Year which is The Bedford Hospital Trust.
A virtual bouquet every bit as good
as the real thing!
Mount Pleasant Lady Captain Ann
White was delighted to receive a
‘virtual’ bouquet from all the Lady
members on her 70th birthday. Pictures
of flowers from the Ladies’ gardens
poured in via WhasApp on the morning
of her birthday. The pictures have since
been put into a lovely photobook, with
a rhyme by Margaret Budgen.
