Q2.
a. If a FM wave is represented by equation CO2 3 10
Calculate
i ) Carrier frequency & modulating frequency
ii ) modulation index
iii ) maximum deviation
iv ) bandwidth
v ) The power dissipated by this FM wave in a 10 ohm
resistor
b. One input to conventional AM modulator is 600 KHz with a peak amplitude of CO2 3 10
22 V. The second input is 15 KHz modulating signal that is of sufficient
amplitude to cause a change in output wave +/- 8.5 V. Determine
i) Lower and upper sideband frequencies
ii) Modulation coefficient and percentage of
modulation

iii) Peak amplitude of modulated carrier and
voltage of upper sideband and lower sideband
iv) Expression of the modulated wave.
v) Draw the labeled waveform of modulated
wave and its frequency spectrum.

a. Explain the process of Frequency demodulation with the technique of Phase CO3 2 10
discrimination. Use vector diagrams if necessary.
b. Draw and explain superheterodyne radio receivers. Also explain image CO3 2 10
frequency with an example.

a. State and prove the sampling theorem .Explain aliasing error. CO4 2 10
b. Out of the three analog pulse modulation techniques, one of them is highly CO4 2 10
power efficient. Discuss generation and detection of that technique.
