Junior Year Academic Reflection

Fall

Think of a class that you have had success with over the course or your high school career. Why
do you think you were successful in this particular class? What did you do to help yourself?
What did your teacher do? What have you discovered about what works for you as a learner?
I think I was particularly successful in these classes because I tried my best to engage in
class. Something I did to help myself is by buying myself a daily calendar. My teacher tried there
best by allowing me to get extra help. Something that I have discovered that works for my
learning are to always use color when taking notes.

Now think of a class that you have struggled with in some way. Why do you think you had a
harder time with this particular class? What did you do/not do that might have impacted the
experience? What might have helped?
In the classes I had trouble in it was probably because I’m a visual learner and need to see
the work done before I can fully understand. Something I did to help myself was asking for a
5th-period pass and get some extra help. Something else that might have helped was to look
videos of other teachers explaining the subject in a different way.

At this point, where do you see yourself when you graduate from high school? College, J.C.,
trade school, work world, travel,....?
At this point, I see myself at a four-year college studying psychology.

What goals will you have to accomplish, academically speaking, in order to get yourself to
where you want to be?
I definitely need to graduate from high school to where I want to be.

What SPECIFIC strategies could you adopt over the course of this year to help yourself?
I think I need to make sure that all my work is being completed not just rushed. And to keep
being curious and asking questions when not understanding something.
