Reflection

As we reach the end of the semester one may leave this class thinking they would never

need to use this information outside of this specific course. It is important to understand that

any information you can learn in one class can be applied to other courses and outside the

classrooms. By learning statistic concepts, we can use these skills to understand graphs and

appropriate samples when entering courses where we are presented with data on a certain

subject. For example, if one were to enter a psychology course, one can use the skills they

acquired to understand if an experiment they are conducting or observing was done correctly.

One can look at the graphics and understand what information they are presenting. Looking at

statistics for a history class can give the student a visual understanding of what happened in the

year they are studying.

Aside from taking these skills into another classroom, one can use these skills into the real

world. An example could be in business. When having your own business, one may wonder if

they had a good year or what could be improved for the next year by looking at their sales. In

this course we learned that there can be shortcuts when using our calculators rather than

having to complete a whole equation. These skills we learned with our calculators have made it

simpler to use outside the classroom and apply it to our situation. What I liked about our

assignments was the use of real numbers in our homework from studies and experiments. It led

me to understand how this information would be important to know and it was not just fake

numbers pulled together to teach us how to reach an unimportant answer.
