Title of the Story: The Three Little Pigs

I. Objectives:

Realize that hard work and dedication pay-off.

1. Identify the characters in the story
2. Put in sequence the events in the story.
3. Answer wh- questions

II. Pre-Reading

A. Vocabulary Development
The pupils will give meaning to the words using synonyms:
a. straw
b. huffed and puffed
c. squealed
d. cunning
e. simmering

B. Motivation Question
What kind of house do you have?

C. Motive Question
What will happen if you a person does not have a house?

III. During Reading

The teacher will read the story to the pupils. (The teacher will pause once in a while to ask pupils
questions)

1. What was the pigs enemy?


2. How many pigs were in the story?
3. What kinds of houses did the pigs make?
4. What happened to their houses?

IV. Post Reading Activities: Five Level Comprehension Questions

1. Literal: Who are the characters in the story?

2. Interpretation ( Inferential) : Which houses could the wolf blow down? Why?

3. Evaluation ( Critical Reading ): Which one of the three pigs do you think was the smartest?
Why?
4. Integration ( Application to Self/Life): If you are one of the pigs, what kind of house are you
going to build?

5. Creative Reading: Dramatize another ending for the story.

V. Writing Activities

A. Engagement
Pupils will be divided into groups. Each group will be given five boxes. In each box they will
write an important events from the story, then arrange the events in proper order.

B. Enrichment
Draw the characters from the story and write at least 3 words that describe them.
