Review:

I=Q/t
1. What is the electric current passing through a heating coil of a hot plate if 20 C of charge
pass through it in 5 s? 4A
2. An average current of 5 A flows through a light bulb; how much electric charge flows
through the bulb in 90 s? 450C

Please make sure you check out my videos in google classroom to help you with this!!

Electric Current Presentation:

Begin at the slide that says Conductors stop after multiple choice number 13 (just before
electrical power). Read through the slides and complete the blanks below.

Different conductors allow electrons to flow more or less freely. Some conductors resist current
to a greater or lesser extent. Resistance is the way that we measure how easily electrons flow
through a conductor. If resistance is low then the electrons flow easily if it is high then the
electrons do not flow through as easily.

The current flow is dependent on two factors: Resistance and Voltage

Raising resistance reduces current

Raising voltage increases current

We can combine these relationships in what we call “Ohm’s Law”

Ohm’s Law Formula: I= V/R

symbol Unit Unit Symbol

Current I Ampere A

Voltage V Volt V

Resistance R Ohm

Stay in the presentation and complete problems 7-13 for practice using the formula. If you need
help please view my video that I posted in the google classroom that goes along with today’s
presentation.
