1. Mission of the FCS department/program


a. Family Consumer Sciences paves the way of leading better lives and building
stronger careers within our students by life skills such as cooking, sewing, and
financial budgeting. This program gives students the abilities in the art of living
and working in our complex world by empowering individuals to identify and
create alternative solutions to significant everyday challenges and to take
responsibility for the consequences of their actions in a diverse global society
through interpersonal relationships, child development, and sustainability.

the basic kitchen fundamentals all the way to advance culinary arts.

Rationale:
The mission, goals, program of study, and course offering fit the school district because it
not only teaches my students how to be successful contributors in the worldly community with
interpersonal skills but, they will be able to feel more career confident to further their
continuation for higher education. This program will be cost efficient by students returning to the
community and giving back their knowledgeable skills in my classroom. This program is not
only full of learning but, also full of fun interactive lessons to teach our students for a better
tomorrow.
