Personal Artifact
Future career interests (if known):

I would like to find a career as either a biomedical engineer or as a computer engineer.

Targeted soft skills you chose for this year:

1. Ability to work independently

2. Teamwork and collaboration

Description of Artifact:

My first personal artifact is my acceptance letter for applying to act as the Student
Liaison to the Cloverdale City Council.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts?

I chose this as my first personal artifact because it demonstrates my ability and resolve to
apply myself and step out of my comfort zone to perform tasks and gain unique
experiences.

How did your experience with this artifact change or impact you?

Taking the opportunity to work as a liason has allowed me to broaden my horizons and
made me consider that maybe my path forward, as well as my future career ideas, are not
set in stone. There are many other avenues of work that I would possibly enjoy, and
narrowing my horizons this early might not be the best thing to do.

Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the course of working on this artifact?
Explain.

I saw growth in my targeted soft skill of my ability to work independently through my

course in working on this artifact. First, I saw growth in my ability to work independently
since I am required to keep updated on current school activities in order to be ready to
present to the city council at every meeting.

Provide an example of how the skills you practiced or the knowledge you gained via this artifact
may also be used in a career in which you are interested.

My ability to work independently to compile information and present it in an efficient

manner will be essential to any research endeavors that I undertake during my time as a
biomedical engineer.
