British Life and Culture

British customs and traditions are famous all over the world. When
people think of Britain they often think of people drinking tea, eating
fish and chips and wearing bowler hats, but there is more in Britain than
just those things.

First, lets speak about British traditional food. British food has
traditionally been based on beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish, it is
generally served with potatoes and vegetables. The most common and
typical foods eaten in Britain include the sandwich, fish and chips, pies
like the corny paste, trufel and roasts dinner. Another, very interesting
topic is British transport. Most people in Britain travel by car. About
75% of households have at least one car. There are about 225,000 (two
hundreed twenty five thousend) miles (362,000 km) of roads in Britain.

British currecy is one of the most valuable currencyies in the

world. Current coins are: 1 penny, 2 pence, 5 pence, 10 pence, 20
pence, 50 pence, 1 pound, and 2 pounds. All their coins bear the Queen's
head on one side. Portraits of kings and queens have been engraved on
their coins for hundreds of years.

And the last topic we will talk about will be, British education.
Education is an important part of British life. There are hundreds of
schools, colleges and universities, including some of the most famous in
the world. Education is free and compulsory for all children between the
ages of 5 - 16. Some children are educated at home rather than in school.
Usually school has twelve classes, 3 classes in each of the four year
groups. There are between 28 and 32 children in each class. In regulare
British school are learning about 380 pupils.

To draw the conclusion, I would like to say that Britain is once of the
most famous countries in the world, with amasing culture, traditions and
education. At least once everyone should visit this country.
