SUBJECT: After Action Review, Drill and Ceremony

Given that the Sea Cadet program follows Navy customs and traditions,
a significant part of that includes drill maneuvers. Ultimately, military
drill is an effective way to move large and small groups alike from one
place to another.

It is important to standardize, or make universally similar, the precise

commands and actions to perform drills. Otherwise, every unit could be
doing something different. Imagine what that could mean if cadets from
far and wide meet together at a Recruit Training, for instance?

Misunderstanding drill commands and execution will also not prepare

those who are interested for Navy enlistment. It therefore behooves all
of us in the Sea Cadet program to perform drill and ceremony in ways
that are consistent within and outside our program.
