SUBJECT: After Action Review, Seamanship

We are Sea Cadets, not the Sky or Space Cadets. Granted, aviation
and celestial navigation are important. A relationship to the sea,
however, is essential to the Navy’s identity and culture.

You will have numerous opportunities to train aboard ships and small
boats. In addition, even though the majority of your trainings will be on-
shore, watches will still be necessary and adhere closely to Naval
regulations.

In the end, familiarity with ship terminologies and equipment will

increase the amount you are able to learn from experience and how
much you can be trusted with increasing responsibilities. The goal is
leadership and with that you need to know what you are doing.
