The Praxis Core Exams measure the knowledge and skills of those individuals who are
going into the teaching profession. It is a part of the certification process that multiple states
require for someone to become a teacher. Before being admitted into a college of education to
continue a Bachelor’s degree, one would need to pass the Praxis Core Exam to evaluate the
students attempting to get in. This allows the admissions department to see where the individual
is academically in order to assess allowing them into the program. In the state of Nevada, the
qualifying score for the reading exam is 156. The qualifying score for the writing test is 162 and
In order to prepare to take the Praxis exams, I read about the exam through the website
provided. I also read the instructions for each test before beginning them. I was also given a lot
of information about the tests in the other education courses that I have taken. In my Introduction
to Special Education class, we went through different practice questions and tests in order to help
us prepare further. I took that class last semester, so I decided not to do as many preparations,
In Math, I scored in the 69% range, which means I need improvement. I am close to

and I believe my scores would improve if I did. I will most likely purchase an online program to
work through example questions along with using the free Praxis Prep websites that were
provided to me. I will make sure that I am fully prepared before taking the real Praxis Core
Exams.
