Junior Year Academic Reflection

Fall

You are now about twenty months away from high school graduation. Over the course of those
months, you will be starting to make decisions about who you are as a young adult, where you
want to be, and what you want to do with your life beyond high school. Take a moment to reflect
on where you are and where you are going.

Think of a class that you have had success with over the course or your high school career. Why
do you think you were successful in this particular class? What did you do to help yourself?
What did your teacher do? What have you discovered about what works for you as a learner?

I have been really successful in Algebra 2 this semester with keeping an A the whole semester. I
was successful in this class because I would always do my work and ask for help if I ever needed
it and along with doing good on my test. My teacher would allow for extra credit opportunities. I
discovered that if I do my work I can do really well in class.

Now think of a class that you have struggled with in some way. Why do you think you had a
harder time with this particular class? What did you do/not do that might have impacted the
experience? What might have helped?

I have struggled with Honors English 3 the most because I am not a very good writer and we get
many essays to do that are worth a lot of points. I should’ve asked for more help with my essays
from some really good writers at the school.

At this point, where do you see yourself when you graduate from high school? College, J.C.,
trade school, work world, travel,....?
I would like to go and attend college after I graduate but I don't know what college I would like
to attend yet.

What goals will you have to accomplish, academically speaking, in order to get yourself to
where you want to be?
I will have to get good grades to achieve a good GPA so it can help me get into a good college.

What SPECIFIC strategies could you adopt over the course of this year to help yourself?
Study hard for tests and do all my schoolwork. I can also do good on my test.
