Portfolio Artifact Description: Can O’ Your Town- Using Drawing, Line, and Painting Tools to
recreate a soup label about our town.

What You Learned: The Can O’ Your Town Project was a pretty simple project to complete. I
think that the hardest part for me was attempting to get the original soup label off the can without
ruining it. I also had a little trouble making my new label the same size as the original. I had put
in the dimensions on PowerPoint and the label was still not big enough so I had to resize it and
move things around a few times. Just like the other projects we have done; I drew this out before
I attempted to recreate it on the software. Once I began making the label on the software, I did it
completely different than my drawing and did not really follow my drawn-out rough draft. By
doing this, I wasted about 30 minutes of time I could have used on the label itself. I liked doing
this project.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: I think that this assignment was a great tool for
learning how to use the paint and drawing tools. This project really incorporated uses of a ton of
different tools. This will be a good assignment to give students because it will help them break
out of their own skin and be creative. Creating something new and from scratch is a great way to
learn how to use different software’s and tools. I can see myself assigning this assignment to my
students when we are talking about creativity and creating our own pieces.
