By selection from among officers in the grade of Radiation Protection Assistant who
reckon at least three years’ service in a substantive capacity and who possess a degree
in Physics from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to
the Public Service Commission.
NOTE1
In the absence of suitably qualified officers in the grade of Radiation Protection
Assistant, by selection from among candidates who possess a degree in Physics from
a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Publie Service

1, To be responsible to the Chief Radiation Protection Officer through the Senior
Radiation Protection Officer for —
(i) assisting in the enforcement of the Radiation Protection Act and its
subsidiary legislations;
(ii) reviewing and assessing applications for authorisation and reporting;
(iii) conducting inspections as per established plans, protocols and manuals;
(iv) processing inspection findings and producing reports;
(v) maintaining the national register of sources, facilities and licensees;
(vi) the provision of radiation protection services;
maintaining all records pertaining to the radiation protection services
being provided; and
(vi
the calibration of radiation detection equipment.
2. To participate in the Radiation Protection Authority's training activities.
3. To represent the Radiation Protection Authority in meetings and committees,

Note
Radiation Protection Officers may be required to work outside normal working hours,
including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays and on officially declared cyclone
days.
