Types of universities
Bavaria’s wide range of universities 4
But not only the quality of life in Bavaria is amazing. Bavarian universi-
ties are well-known for their wide range of courses and their high aca-
demic standards. Students and academics from all over the world con-
tribute to this excellent reputation. The costs of studying in Bavaria are
relatively low: you can study most degrees without paying tuition fees,
and the living expenses in Germany are affordable. By the way, did you
know that Bavaria is economically one of the strongest states in Ger-
many, and is known around the world as an important high-tech cen-
tre? Also, numerous attractive career possibilities at well-known com-
panies are waiting for you. Welcome to Bavaria!
Types of universities
Apart from that, there are also two church-funded universities of art.
But watch out! The places at the universities of arts are much
sought-after. You will usually have to take part in an entrance examina-
tion and demonstrate your artistic talent.
You aren’t sure yet what you want to study? Why don’t you explore the
wide selection of study courses in Bavaria, the list of programs taught
in English, or search directly for a specific course in a data-
base:
https://www.study-in-bavaria.de/courseoffer/
You‘ve already been admitted to a university? Then find out all about
special orientation, buddy or tutorial programs for international stu-
dents at your future university. If you have further specific requests,
the International Office can also provide you with advice for student
activities. The Bavarian universities offer lots of activities to help you
settle in and find friends: welcoming receptions, field trips, conversa-
tion and study groups, choirs, orchestras, theatre groups, sports activi-
ties and many more.
You can find the contact details of the Bavarian universities‘ Interna-
tional Offices at the end of this brochure, as well as on the
internet:
