To Whom It May Concern:
| respectfully write this letter urging you to consider the Marshall County, Kentucky Sheriff Department as a
recipient for the Cops Hiring Program (CHP) grant. Over many years our schoo! district has had such a strong
community partnership with the Sheriff's Office. In the Marshall County School District, as we continue to
take steps to further increase security for students and build awareness about crime prevention and safety,
we recognize the immense value of additional school resource officers (SRO's) on our campus. Currently,
‘our partnership with the Sheriff's Office provides eight SRO's. if we were able to partner with the Sheriff's
Office to add three more SRO's, we could keep three officers at our high school/technical center campus,
and have one full time officer dedicated to each remaining school in the district. In addition to the benefits
related to safety and security, this would increase the relationship building opportunities with students as it
would allow a constant presence in all schools. As we rebuild in the aftermath of our tragedy in 2018, that
constant presence would provide a much needed peace of mind for students and staff during this critical
time of recovery.
‘Thank you in advance for your consideration. Please contact us if you have any questions or if we can assist
in any way.
Sincerely,
Tapdtedt
