Imminent Concern
The student with an imminent risk for violent behavior
is one who acknowledges having frequent and severe
homicidal (and possibly suicidal) thoughts and has
multiple risk factors and imminent warning signs with
clear pathways to escalating violence.
EXCEPTIONS TO CONFIDENTIALITY
Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of
California (1976) requires notification of threats
of violence to potential victims.
