Hidden treasure, mountains and much more. This is a manual event that takes you right into the pirates'
playground. Your bot has to showcase its ability to adapt to adverse situations and collect treasure. Through
the course of three exciting rounds, the bot will have to traverse through different type of terrain, climb
mountains in order to win the maximum points.

The aim of the event is to come up with solutions that can be applied in the field of excavation and rescue
operations. So, get on board for a thrilling ride!

Land Ahoy!!

First Round
The bot’s main task here is to dig through flagged spots on a terrain covered with sand to uncover coins that are
buried underneath, collect them and place them within an open chest at one corner of the arena.

Arena

1. Arena: Arena will be a rectangular area of dimension 2m X 2m covered with a layer of dry sand of
depth 15cm to 20cm.
2. The Chest: An open wooden box at a corner of the arena, as in the picture, of dimension 25cm X
25cm X 10cm.
3. The Flags: There would be six paper flags, held on wooden sticks (maximum height 20cm), two each
of three different colours : red for rubies, green for emerald and yellow for gold, indicating the
presence of a coin under each flag, of the same colour as the flag, buried underneath it. The flags
will be placed at random locations in the sand.
4. The Treasure:
1. The treasure consists of two coins each of red, green and yellow colour.
2. Coins shall be circular with diameter 4cm.
3. Coins shall be wooden and hence non-magnetic in nature.
4. Coins shall be buried within a radius of at maximum 7cm from the flag.
5. Red coins represent rubies, green ones emerald and yellow ones gold.
6. Red coins shall be at a maximum depth of 3 cm, green coins at a maximum depth of 5 cm,
yellow coins at a maximum depth of 7 cm.
5. Starting zone :A rectangular area of 40 cm X 40 cm at one corner of the arena will be the starting
zone for the bot.
First Round Arena.

Rules

1. The bot must start from the starting position marked out on the arena.
2. A coin is said to be “dug up” when it has been removed completely from under the sand and is now
fully visible on the sand surface.
3. For a coin to be considered as “put in” the chest, the whole coin must be within the open box i.e.
the chest.
4. The flags may be displaced in the process of digging but should not be toppled.
5. A team may call for at maximum 1 restart inviting a penalty of 50 points. At restart, the bot must
start again from the starting position.
6. A team will invite a penalty of 20 points for every flag toppled. A flag is considered to be fallen if the
flag staff touches the sand surface.

Scoring

1. There are 2 rubies, 2 emeralds and 2 gold biscuits to dig up.


2. Rubies are worth 50 points, emeralds worth 100 points and gold biscuits worth 200 points to dig
up.
3. For every object put in the chest, 10 points are added.
4. A penalty of 50 points if the restart is called for.
5. A penalty of 20 points for every toppled flag.

Scoring Rule:
(50*No. Of Rubies) + (100*No. Of Emeralds) + (200*No. Of Gold Biscuits) + (10*No. of objects put in the
chest) - (Time in seconds) - (50*No.of Restarts) - (20*No. Of Flags Toppled)

Maximum Time Allowed: 3 mins


Second Round
In this round, the bot has to traverse through two types of regions, pebbled and an incline, find the treasure stored
at strategic locations in the pebbled zone. There’s an open chest into which the bot has to deposit all its treasure.

Arena

 Arena Dimensions : The arena will be a rectangular area with features as listed in the following
points.
 The Pebbled Zone:
1. This is a rectangular area of dimension 0.8m X 1m covered with a layer of stone chips. (see
Figure) with a maximum depth 20cm.
2. There is a rectangular starting zone at one corner of this area of area 40cm X 40cm.
3. There will be three spots, indicated by blue light plastic flags, where blue coloured coins
have been buried at a depth of 5cm to 7cm.
4. The flags will be blue with a maximum height of 20cm.
5. The bot has to dig through the pebbles to retrieve the coins.
 The Wedge:
1. The wedge will be wooden inclined at around 25 to 30 degrees to the ground.
2. The wedge will have a height of 60 cm.
3. The area at the top of the wedge will be of dimension 0.5m X 1m.
 The Pit-stops: The pit-stops will be located on the wedge indicated by a red line(length of which will
be disclosed during the time of the event). The bot may choose to cross the pit-stops in order to
gain bonus points.
 The Chest: The chest is an open wooden box of dimensions 25cm X 25cm X 10cm fixed on top of
the wedge.However, the chest may not be necessarily located at the centre of the top of the
wedge.
 The Treasure: Coins will be circular with dimensions diameter 4cm. They will be yellow in colour,
wooden (non-magnetic) in nature and buried within a radius of at maximum 7cm from the flag.

Second Round Arena : Pebbled Zone

Rules

1. The starting position is defined as an area of dimension 40cm X 40cm at a corner of the pebbled
zone.
2. A coin is said to be “dug up” in the pebbled zone when it has been removed completely from under
the pebbled zone and is now visible on the pebbled surface.
3. A pit-stop is said to be crossed only if the bot stops at it for a minimum of 5 seconds.
4. The flags may be displaced in the process of digging but may not be toppled.
5. The treasure(the yellow coins) must be entirely within the chest to be considered as “deposited
within” the chest.
6. A team is allowed a maximum of 2 restarts inviting a penalty of 50 points per restart. At restart, bot
must start again from either starting position.
7. A team will invite a penalty of 20 points for every fallen flag. A flag is considered to be fallen if the
flag staff touches the pebbled surface.

Scoring

1. 50 points for each yellow coin dug up in the pebbled zone.


2. 100 points for each coin/gold biscuit deposited into the chest.
3. 50 points Bonus for each pit-stop crossed.
4. A penalty of 50 points in case restart is called for.
5. A penalty of 20 points for every fallen flag.

Scoring Rule:

stops crossed) - (Time in seconds)-(50*No.Of Restarts)-(20*No. Of Fallen Flags)

Third Round
A one-on-one playoff –
Now that treasure has been collected, two rival bots fight it out to take its possession.
The task has three main components:

1. Retrieve the treasure kept on a pyramid along a side of the arena (refer to the arena pic) in a chest.
2. Retrieve the treasure from the sand beds spanning the entire arena.
3. Put claim to the treasure as yours by depositing it in the designated victory zone.

Arena

Arena Dimensions: The arena is a rectangular area of dimension 340cm X 300 cm.Each team is allotted one
half of the arena divided along its length. Each half of the arena will contain

1. Raised Sand Beds: Rectangular with a base area of 20 cm X 20 cm X 5 cm which will be filled with
sand. These will contain two emerald coins each buried at a depth of less than 5 cm from the top.
2. The Starting/Victory Zone: A rectangular area 40cm X 40cm at corners of the arena (Refer arena
pic). The starting zones will double as the victory zones after the commencement of play.
3. The Treasure :
1. An open light wooden box of dimensions 20cm X 20cm X 5cm containing 10 yellow coloured
gold coins and 6 yellow coloured gold biscuits is placed on top of the pyramid fixed to the
top surface.
2. Coins shall be circular with diameter 4cm.
3. Gold biscuits are square shaped with area 3cm X 4cm and a thickness of 5mm.
4. The sand beds contain two emeralds each.
4. The Pyramid:
1. Area of the base of the pyramid is 2.5m * 1.35m
2. The height of the whole pyramid is roughly 50 cm.
3. The top of the pyramid is a rectangular area with a base of 80cm X 50cm.
4. The angle of inclination of each pyramid is 30-35 degrees.
5. Refer to the arena picture for the position of the pyramid.
6. The chest is located at the top of the pyramid.
7. The pyramid will be made of wood.

Rules

1. Collecting Booty:
“Collecting Booty” is defined as :
o Collecting coins, gold biscuits and placing them in the victory zone which lies diagonally
opposite to the starting zone. If placed anywhere else in the arena, the other team may
collect it from there, but treasure once placed in the victory zone cannot be removed from
there.
o Collecting treasure from sand beds by digging through sand.
2. The bot must not attack the opponent, in event of which, the team will be liable for disqualification.

Scoring

1. For every emerald retrieved from the raised sand bed, 50 points are awarded.
2. Each gold coin is worth 50 points. Each gold biscuit is worth 100 points. The chest itself is worth 200
points.
3. Time is stopped after 4 mins. The score will be calculated on the basis of each team’s possession of
the booty captured at the end of 4 mins. (Refer to Scoring Rule).

Scoring Rule:
Team Score = (50 * No. Of Emeralds Retrieved) + (50 * No. of Gold Coins Collected) +(100 * No. of Gold
Biscuits Collected) - Penalty
Penalty :
100, if a team tries to collect the treasure from the opponents victory zone
0, otherwise.
Time : 4 mins
Robot Specification
1. The bot should be manually controlled with the required mechanical setup to perform the given
task.
2. The bot should be able to fit inside a box of 35cm X 25cm X 25cm before the commencement of
each task.
3. Dimensions may exceed once the event begins.
4. The main chassis of the bot must remain unchanged through the event.
5. Wires (if any) connecting the bot to the control system must be held slack through the event.
6. Lego kits or complete car bases are not allowed.
7. Readymade gearboxes are allowed.

General Rules
1. Maximum team size – 4 members per team. No two teams may have any common member.
2. Time:

First round: 3 min.


Second round: 4 min
Third round: 4 min

3. The bot must not cause any damage to the arena. In event of any damage, the team would be liable
for disqualification.
4. The dimensions mentioned are subject to a tolerance of 10 percent.
5. The participants will be provided with 220 Volts, 50Hz standard AC supply. Participants will have to
themselves arrange for any other power supply required for their robot.
6. Teams qualifying the first round will go into the second round and those qualifying the second
round participate in the third round.
7. Teams cannot tinker with their bots in the arena.
8. The decision of the Robotix Team shall be final and binding.
