CURSO LIBRE INGLES INTRODUCCION 2015

This course INTRODUCTION is oriented to help you learn in a friendly way with a balanced
approach to grammar, blending traditional and newer approaches in language acquisition; it will
provide you with extensive practice in every lesson. You will learn to say a little bit more about
yourself as the course carries on such as: giving personal information, to give and share opinions
about every day habits and routines.

This course will include 5 Units from the book: English ID Starter, you will complete each unit with
classroom assignments, individual and group assignments, workbook extra practice, and
interactive language exercises through the four skills; Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading.
Also the use of a website in which you will need to register with an access code provided in your
personal purchased book.

OBJECTIVES

1. In unit 1 you will learn how to introduce yourself, introduce a friend, and say numbers 1-
12, give personal information, name objects in English as part of the vocabulary learned in
class, ask and answer personal questions.
2. In unit 2 you will learn to ask about people and objects, talk about preferences and
express opinions, talk about countries and nationalities, read for general comprehension,
and say numbers 13 - 100.
3. In unit 3 you will learn to talk about jobs, ask and answer about jobs and places of work,
talk about family, Listen for specific information.
4. In Unit 4 you will learn how to say the names of personal objects, agree and disagree,
describe quantity for objects, compare personal belongings and talk about social
networks.
5. In Unit 5 you will learn about food and drinks, express opinions and talk about eating
preferences or habits, talk about weekdays and weekends, ask and answer about weekend
activities, talk about famous people, ask and answer about family, friends and
preferences.
CONTENTS:

UNIT VOCABULARY GRAMMAR


1. Simple Present with Opening greetings, numbers Contraction I’m, the , a/an,
BE. 1-12, classroom language, verb to be affirmative,
classroom objects, familiar negative, interrogative,
words, the alphabet. contractions: you´re, it´s, isn
´t, what´s.
2. Simple Present with Famous people and things, Personal pronouns,

adjectives, countries and order adjective + noun,
nationalities, numbers 13-20, review verb to be.

3. Simple Present with Jobs and occupations, family A/an + occupations, plurals,

4. There is/There are Personal objects, technology Singular and plural nouns,

5. Present simple Meals, food and drinks, silent Present simple review with

weekend activities, fast food. adverbs, on + days, possessive

PROCESS

 Each class will have a lesson in which the grammar content will be explained, new
vocabulary will be introduced and a slide share or transparencies will be projected for
visual explanations by the teacher.
 There will be time provided in its opportunity to ask and answer questions about the
lesson.
 Practice makes it perfect, individual and group assignments will be conducted including
the different skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing) to practice the language as
much as possible.
 Grammar reviews and English ID café in its opportunity will be used as personal
assessment.
 Workbook exercises will be assigned as homework as well as exercises on line by the
teacher.
 A book (Reader) will be assigned at the beginning of the course in which you are
responsible to read in your own time, the first time to find new vocabulary highlight and
keep a log of the new words in your personal notebook, the second time to understand
the general idea of the book, the third time you read the book do it by chapters, following
the before and after you read activities on the back of the book, and the last time you read
also listen to the CD for pronunciation and complete comprehension of the plot. A section
on your written test will ask about the introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and
resolution of the story.
EVALUATION CRITERIA

 ATTENDANCE IT’S VERY IMPORTANT!


 ON LINE HOMEWORK each student’s performance will be evaluated with emphasis on
effort and responsibility.
 Assignments conducted in class are only worth points if you attended to class if not, there
are no repositions.
 If you do not have a minimum of 21 points accumulated you won’t be able to do the Final
Exam.
 There are no repositions of quizzes, reviews or homework if you are absent the day that
was assigned.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

 Attend classes regularly 80 % of attendance is required , avoid frustration or rushing with


homework and content you need commitment, remember that learning a new language
without adequate personalization it would be unpleasant as well as pointless.
 Presentations and Homework is expected on assigned dates. NO Exceptions it affects
your classmates.
 The final grade will be reduced if absent, remember your participation in class activities
is fully expected.
