Foreword
Blaise Haachuma is a man with a message centered on
the man Jesus. He unfolds the profound mystery of the
Grace of God in an uncommon way, his words and rich
revelatory method of teaching has a great appeal to
different classes of people weather you are a non-
believer, a believer or a mature believer. His words will
find a place in your life; his teaching style is very
captivating almost grabbing your attention by force.
The necessity of the message on his heart cannot be
down played in a world where they is a constant
genuine desire to do better. Most people actually
approach and relate to God with a similar appeal were
they want to do more so as to please Him, not realizing
that He has already been pleased – just this simple
truth could help many relate with God better.

Despite its name “Russian Roulette”; reading this book

is no game of chance – it will definitely blow ignorance
out of your brain! Blaise unfolds the subject of Grace

2
and forgiveness of sin in a unique sense. The mentality
that has filled so many is that going to Heaven is a
game of cards; it’s a gamble, something that is left to
chance. Mr. Haachuma puts it this way;

"If I can just confess my sin before I die I can go you

Heaven"

Precious saints going to Heaven needs no finger

crossing as it is no game of chance it is a conscious
decision you make every day to make your election
sure. So this book stands to remind us of many
elementary truths on salvation.

Introduction
I have met many people that claim to be believers but
are not fully convinced whether or not they are saved. I
remember this one time I was on a bus and asked this
lady whether she was saved/ born again or not. Her
response was that she had always been saved because
she was born in a Christian home and was always going
to church. That hit me – and I realized that most people
think being born in a Christian home or going to church
every Sunday is evidence of being born again or that it
is what secures one’s salvation.

I have titled this book Russian Roulette because Russian

roulette is a dangerous game of chance, in which a
person puts one bullet into a revolver, points it to their
head and shoots. If it does not hit the slot with the
bullet then you are saved and if it does, you are dead.
And that is how most people hope to go to Heaven;
they think they will go to Heaven by chance. Most
people think that if they could just have enough time to

4
confess their sins just before they die then they will go
into Heaven. The opposite side of it is that they think
that even if you had lived a ‘righteous life’ (in their
context) throughout your livelihood and at the moment
of death you die in sin then you are going to hell. So we
have this paradox that has been set before us and I
want to address this issue critically.

5
Thought Pattern
There is a difference between how we live and how we
think, it is very important that we balance the two.
How we live is the requirement that the scriptures pose
for us and what is expected of us as believers. How we
think is the mind set with which we move in this life;
because how we think ultimately affects how we live.
Therefore, it is very important that we address how we
think. I am not saying, as many have thought I have,
that we can live however we want to because of the
grace of God that saves us. I am trying to address the
thinking aspect and I believe that as people begin to
understand the Grace of God and just what He has
done for them, they will ultimately begin to live right.
They will begin to live in appreciation of what God has
done.

This then is the message which we have heard of Him,

and declare unto you, that God is light and in him there is
no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with

6
him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ
his son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have
no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If
we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1
John 1:5-9 KJV.

Now I want to focus on verse 9. First of all, let us look at

what this verse says – “if we confess.” Most people
think confessing is saying, “O God I did and I did that.”
That is not it. We need to understand what grounds or
on what basis does God forgive men; how does God
forgive people? See, if you think just because you have
said what you did wrong then God will forgive you then
believe me, you are deceiving yourself. What makes
God forgive you is the shedding of the blood of Jesus
Christ, because the blood of Jesus has been shed, God
has forgiven you. So if Jesus had not shed his blood, if
he had not died, even if you confessed your sins to God,

7
there would be no basis upon which God can forgive
you. Why do I say so?

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be

cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood
there is no forgiveness. – Hebrews 9:22 NIV.

What does this mean? First of all, we need to

understand that the Old Testament is composed of
types and shadows while the New Testament has the
reality; Jesus is the reality. The Old Testament was
simply a prophecy of Christ. In the Old Testament, God
had a tabernacle and the Bible clearly says in Hebrews
9 that the Old Testament tabernacle was simply a
shadow of the New Tabernacle. Why do we say that?
Because the Bible says that whatever is now, whatever
is seen was formed or created from what is unseen.
That is why we were created initially in the image of
God because God is unseen and we are seen, so we are
a replica of God.

8
Confession of Sin vs.
Forgiveness of Sin
It’s imperative that we understand that one verse does
not make doctrine. In biblical interpretation we observe
a law of two or three witnesses.

If you don’t read the First epistle of John meticulously,

you may think the writer is in a state of some confusion
or contradicting himself especially when you read

Chapter 1 where He says “if we confess our sins, he is

faithful and just to forgive us our sins”, then in Chapter 2
He says “I write unto you that ye sin not, and if any man
sin, we have an advocate”, in Chapter 3 He says
“whatsoever is born of god doth not commit sin … and he
cannot sin” and in Chapter 5 he says “we know that
whatsoever is born of god sinneth not.”

The First epistle of John is written to different classes

of people.

9
1 John Chapter 1 was written against Gnostics and their
philosophy (they were unbelievers, they were heretics
who permeated the early church, they held on to the
opinion that Jesus only appeared in a body but he
didn’t really have a physical body per se and they also
do not believe in the existence of sin).

1 John Chapter 2, he writes to 3 different categories of

believers (children, young men and fathers). 1 John
Chapter 3, 4 and 5, he writes to all believers at large. 1
John 1: 1 started with no salutations (this is not
applicable with other letters written to believers by
John himself in 2 John and 3 John, and also letters by
Peter and even Paul).

John writes to validate the life and ministry of Jesus as

an eye witness, and as a testifier of his physical
existence, He also extended a hand fellowship to the
heretics to join the community of believers by
acknowledging their sins, and that God is able to
provide the forgiveness.

10
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and
the truth is not in us. If we “confess” our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:8-9

The word “confess” used here is a verb from the Greek

word “homologeo”; it means “TO MAKE
DECLARATION”. The most accurate synonym in this
context is “TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR ADMIT”.

1 John 1: 9 can be paraphrased as …

If we “ACKNOWLEDGE OR ADMIT” our sins, he is

faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.

This place does not talk about a believer asking; It does

not imply that a believer should ask for forgiveness, it is
a strong message against the heretics to bring them to
the realization that “all have sinned” and calling them
to “acknowledge” their sins, and once that is done; God

11
can be trusted (He is faithful); He is up to it to provide
the forgiveness.

In this Chapter, John uses “we” and “us” not necessarily

including him as one of them. Then in the following
chapter 1 John 2: 1 - 2, He addresses the community of
believers.

“My little children, these things I write unto you, so that

you “MAY” not sin. And “IF” any man sin “WE HAVE AN
ADVOCATE WITH THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST THE
RIGHTEOUS. And Himself is the propitiation for our sins,
and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

Here, John associates the children category with sin.

They know the Father, they have recognized Him but
they are still ignorant of his dealings (because they
haven’t known His word).

In this verse, for the children category, sin (or sinning)

here is conditional; the believer does not have to sin;
and peradventure if it happens; the solution is not to

12
start confessing sins. John didn’t tell the children to
confess their sins; rather he reminds them they have an
advocate. An advocate stands for the accused, a
solicitor pleads on behalf of the offender. It is not the
duty of the accused; the lawyer speaks on his behalf.

I write unto, little children because your sins are forgiven

you for his name’s sake. – 1 John 2: 12

Forgiveness of sins is for His name’s sake not for our

sake. We are forgiven because of Jesus. Thus Pastor
Eghose Alvin Osunde once said “If confession was so
important in respect of forgiveness of sins; Jesus would
have climbed the highest mountain and confessed on
behalf of man”

Note here also that, John is not trying to “okay” sin for
the believer but assuring them that the issue of sin has
been dealt with in the first place, and should not focus
on sin, but looking on to the advocate who justifies the
accused/offender. (This is the focus of the message)

13
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he
might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in
Jesus. – Romans 3:25-26

God puts away man’s sins in his righteousness and

justifies him. This justification does not come by
periodically declaring (confessing) our sins but by the
sovereign/once and for all declaration of the Almighty
God. If our salvation requires a periodical confession of
sins, Paul by the Spirit of God wouldn’t have left it out.
If it was so vital, he wouldn’t be silent on it. Paul
throughout all of his epistles didn’t mention or instruct
believers to “confess” their sins for once. Rather he
reminds believers of who they are in Christ Jesus, he
advises us to reckon; put on/put off, yield, renew etc.

As a child grows to learn the ways of his Father (in His

word) he puts away childish things; he rises to be a
young man who will become strong because of the
abiding word of God in him.

14
I have written unto you fathers, because you have known
him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you
young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God
abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. – 1
John 2:14

The believer’s focus should not be on his confession of

sin (which breeds sin consciousness) but on the word of
God (on what has been provided in the finished works
of Christ and on the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in
the believer) which causes transformation and spiritual
maturity.

15
The Tabernacle Blueprint
Forgiveness of sin in the Old Testament was not based
on confession of sins too; it was based on killing of a
lamb. In the Old Testament, the High Priest would get
two goats or two lambs. This day was called “The Day
of Atonement” or Yom Kippur. He would kill lamb and
the other he would lay his hands on and send away as a
scapegoat into the wilderness which was a picture of
the lamb taking away the sins of Israel. The one that
was killed, the High Priest would put as the sin offering
altar; this altar was outside the tabernacle. The High
Priest would place that lamb on the altar and get some
of its blood and then walk into the tabernacle. When he
goes there, he would then enter the Most Holy place
where there was the Ark of the Covenant and he would
shed (apply) the blood of that lamb on to the Mercy
Seat. The Mercy Seat was on top of the Ark of the
Covenant. The High Priest would place that blood
there, if that blood of that lamb was not accepted, the
High Priest would die in that place and the people

16
would have to pull him out with a rope. However, if the
High Priest did not die, then that meant God had
accepted the sacrifice and Glory of God would descend
into that place. That means the presence of the Holy
Spirit was evidence that the sacrifice was accepted and
that meant the sins of Israel were covered by that
sacrifice.

What does this mean to us? It means that the death of

Jesus on the cross was not the ending of everything, it
was actually the beginning. That means when Jesus
said it is finished on the cross; he was not saying your
redemption was finished. He was saying, “The Old
Testament requirements I have fulfilled; it is finished.”
He was saying, “Now I am initiating something else, I
have fulfilled those requirements but I want to make
sure that everything is fulfilled – that means I want to
take this blood into the Holy Tabernacle which is in
Heaven.” That means that when Jesus was on the
cross, he was that sin offering on the Altar outside the
Tabernacle. This means the cross was the beginning of

17
the actual redemption process, the actual forgiveness
of sins; the cross was where it began. When Jesus died
on the cross, he was a sin offering. When he died and
descended, he was going out as a scapegoat; he was
taking away the sin of the world. Jesus’ descending into
hell was him taking away the sins because only a sinful
man can go into hell. So Jesus became sin as the Bible
says:

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
– 2 Corinthians 5:21

Christ himself became sin and went into hell. Because

he was made sin, he could only go to hell; he could not
go to Heaven. He went to hell and God judged that sin.
When he resurrected, he came back to life as a faithful
High Priest who was called by God. When he came
back to life he said,

“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet

ascended to my Father” – John 20:17

18
Most people think when Jesus died he went to Heaven.
No, Jesus did not go to Heaven. That is why on the
cross he told the thief that they would be together in
paradise, he did not say Heaven. Paradise is what is
referred sometimes as Abraham’s Bosom as in the
story of Lazarus and the rich man. There is a land called
the land of the dead where there is Abraham’s bosom
(paradise) and there is hell. That means in the land of
the dead there are two compartments; a place for the
righteous and a place for the wicked. So when Jesus
died, he went to hell and when he resurrected, he rose
as a faithful High Priest.

Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like

unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and
faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make
reconciliation for the sins of the people. – Hebrews 2:17

So when he had to go to Heaven now, he went there as

a faithful High Priest carrying the blood. When he went

19
into Heaven, he went to sit on the right hand side of
God which we call the Mercy Seat.

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to

come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not
made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own
blood he entered in once into the holy place, having
obtained eternal redemption for us. – Hebrews 9:11-12

So the blood of Jesus that saves us is not the physical

blood, it is Christ himself, Jesus himself is the blood,
not his physical blood. Because if it was his physical
blood, then he did not have to die. Because he was
circumcised, blood was shed but he still forged ahead.
He was praying in the garden of gethsemane, he
prayed until he shed blood but still he continued. When
they whipped him, he shed blood but he still continued.
They put a crown of thorns on his head, he bled but still
continued. He was pierced, blood came out, he
continued and he still went to Heaven.

20
That tells us that the physical blood is not what saves
us, Christ himself is the blood, and his life is our
salvation. When you are in Christ, as long as he is alive,
then so are you. So your salvation is in Christ, not in
physical blood but in Himself. When he sat on the right
hand of God, Christ himself is a reminder to the Father
about what he did for you, himself is the blood. Now
remember, when the blood is shed on the Mercy Seat,
the presence of God would descend into the Most Holy
place according to the Old Testament. Now when
Christ sat on the Mercy Seat in Heaven that is when the
Holy Ghost was released. The Holy Spirit was released
from Heaven and came on the day of Pentecost. That
means the presence of the Holy Spirit is the evidence of
God’s acceptance of the blood. So because the Holy
Spirit has been released, that tells you that God has
accepted the sacrifice of Christ.

21
The Basis
The basis upon which God forgives men is not what
they are doing or not doing. The basis is on what Christ
has done, Jesus himself is the blood and he sat on the
Mercy Seat and God said ‘accepted’ and he released the
Holy Spirit who came to us as evidence that the blood
that was shed by Christ has been accepted. So if you
think what you do is what gets you saved then you
have it all wrong.

In the verse we just read in the book of 1st John above

(verse 9), remember the Greek word that was used for
the word confess is the Greek word ‘Homologeo’ it
means to speak in agreement or to acknowledge or to
come to realization. That means when John wrote “if
you confess your sins,” what he was saying is if you
come to the acknowledgement of your sins and declare
as a sinner before God, he is faithful; when the Bible
says he is faithful, it means that God is faithful to his
promise, that he will fulfill his promise. And his promise

22
is that you will inherit the blessing of Abraham; that is
his faithfulness. John goes on to say that God is just, if
we take justice in the context that God gives people
what they deserve then we have it are correct, but it
has a twist. Why? Because Jesus stood in our stead and
took what we rightly deserved that we may take what
we didn’t earn. Therefore, Justice is in the context that
God will give you what Christ has done on your behalf.

The forgiveness of sins is a combination of an act of

justice and an act of mercy. Thus ‘just’ in this verse
cannot be used in a strict and proper tense. God is
faithful and just to forgive our sins that means, first you
acknowledge your sins. The funny thing with most
Christian folks is that they read verses but then they
want to make their own interpretations. But then some
verses are so clear, for example we used to read John
3:16 as a memory verse:

23
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.

It is so clear, “whoever believes in him shall not perish”

it does not say whoever does good or whoever this or
that. It says whoever believes in him shall not perish
but will have everlasting life. That means once you
believe in him, you have everlasting life, you are
completely changed from who you were and you
become like Christ. Today I want you to understand
that you do not go to Heaven based on chance; you do
not go to Heaven based on how you feel or what you
have done. You do not go to Heaven based on anything
else but Jesus; Jesus is the fundamental part, the basis
upon which God forgives you. So if God has changed
you, who can change you otherwise? If God can love
you even though you were a sinner and send his son to
die for you, while you were still a sinner, what more
now that you have become his child? Now you are in
his family, before you were an outcast, you were

24
outside. But now he has brought you in, has accepted
you and has cleansed you himself. We put too much
weight on ourselves and we forget that God has said
we cannot do it. I want you to understand that you do
not go to Heaven based on chance; you go to Heaven
based on what Jesus has done.

I read this verse and it just blew my mind;

Jesus answered and said unto them, this is the work of

God that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. – John
6:29

Jesus was talking to the disciples and they were asking

him their work in the Kingdom. In verse 28 they asked
him what they must do to do the work that God
requires of us, Jesus answered them,

“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has

sent.”

You have to believe, that is the basis, and your

Christian work is to believe in Christ. That is why Paul

25
mentions the works of faith, our work of faith. Even the
works that we do is a product of our faith, there is
nothing that we do that is not produced from faith.
Paul even says anything that is done without faith is
sin.

And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he

eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. –
Romans 14:23

Everything is a product of faith. If I today want to

become a pastor and I want to pastor a church and I am
preaching and ministering, those works are a result of
my faith, it is not that my faith is a product of my works
or that my salvation is a product of my preaching. My
preaching is evidence of my salvation, because I have
faith in Christ, I can preach.

26
Can I Lose My salvation?
To answer this question let us first examine what
salvation is and how we get into it.

If we are to understand salvation, the scriptures are the

grounds or the proof or truth we have for that. The
scriptures are the boundaries for Christian knowledge.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy

scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto
salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. – 2
Timothy 3:15

The purpose and the major message of the Bible is

salvation which is in Christ and the scriptures serve as
proof of that, their purpose is to bring us to the
knowledge of salvation through faith which is in Christ.
The mission of the scriptures is to bring you to
salvation. Salvation hinges on the man of Jesus Christ
so in order to comprehend our salvation, we need first
to understand the humanity of Jesus. The whole of

27
mankind is summarized into two persons; Adam and
Christ

Wherefore, as by one-man sin entered into the world,

and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for
that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the
world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even
over them that had not sinned after the similitude of
Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was
to come. – Romans 5:12-14

Sin was not part of the world that God created in the
beginning, everything God created was good (Genesis
1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25). The scripture in the book of
Romans above describes to us exactly how sin became
a part of this world; one man brought it into existence.

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much

more they which receive abundance of grace and of the
gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus
Christ.) Therefore, as by the offence of one [judgment

28
came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the
righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men
unto justification of life. For as by one man's
disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one shall many be made righteous. –
Romans 5:17-19

One man’s disobedience brought sin and

condemnation for all, by Adam all men were made
sinners. When God created man, he gave him dominion
of earth and the responsibility to reproduce, multiply
and replenish the earth. But because of his
disobedience, man fell short and started multiplying
disobedience. After Adam fell, instead of producing
after God’s image, he started producing after the
nature of fallen man (the disobedient Adam).
Humanity now functions in disobedience because of
Adam. We all became sinners not because of what we
did but because of what Adam did, the offense of one
man brought judgment upon all men.

29
This is exactly the same with salvation, one man’s act
of obedience brought righteousness for many. They
(the many) are justified by (through) this one man’s
obedience (Romans 5:18, 19). The concept of salvation
is summarized as ‘by’ and ‘through’ Jesus Christ. Christ
did the opposite of what Adam did and because he
obeyed, he now produces after God’s image (which
was originally what Adam was supposed to do).

So we see from this that humanity is split into two title

functions (Adam and Christ). It is either you are
unsaved (a sinner) in Adam or you are saved (a saint) in
Christ. You cannot be saved in Adam and unsaved in
Christ. Salvation is in Christ.

30
What Is Salvation?
Salvation concerns eternal spiritual deliverance; it
means preservation from the wrath of God. It is our
deliverance from sin and its consequences.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while

we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then,
being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through him. - Romans 5:9

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain

salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, - 2 Thessalonians 5:9

We saw earlier that salvation is the theme of the

scriptures (2 Timothy 3:15). The message of the entire
Bible from Genesis to Revelation is salvation. Salvation
is the will of God for all men, he wants all men to be
saved, and his salvation plan does not exclude anyone.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some

men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not

31
willing that any should perish, but that all should come
to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9

God is patient in spite of the wickedness of man

because he wants all people to be saved; he does not
want anyone to perish.

For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Savior; who will have all men to be saved, and to come
unto the knowledge of the truth. - 1 Timothy 2:3, 4

God does not want anyone to be under the yoke of sin;

his desire is that all men should be saved. He does not
want to lose not even a single one of us. There is no
solution beyond salvation.

Salvation Is In Jesus.
Salvation came through the man Jesus,

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and

searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that
should come] unto you: Searching what, or what manner
of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,

32
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and
the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed,
that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister
the things, which are now reported unto you by them
that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy
Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels
desire to look into. – 1 Peter 1:10-12

Jesus makes salvation available for everyone; we will

only know salvation by looking at what God has done in
Christ Jesus. Jesus came to earth to bring peace
between God and man; he is the one that saves
mankind from their sin, the angel of the Lord declared
this at his birth

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his
name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
– Matthew 1:21

God has reconciled the world unto himself through the

sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ. He no longer holds
counts man’s sin against him.

33
And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to
himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry
of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the
word of reconciliation. – 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

The sacrifice of Jesus was the ultimate expression of

the love of God for mankind. Jesus died to show us just
how deep his love for us is, and the beauty about it all is
that he sacrificed himself for us while we were still
sinners.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while

we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then,
being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we
were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much
more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And
not only [so], but we also joy in God through our Lord

34
Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the
atonement, - Romans 5:8-11

Jesus paid the price for our freedom from sin and saved
us from the wrath of God. He died for us while we were
still sinners, he did not just die for those that are in the
church today. Jesus died for the whole world, his love is
not biased.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only

begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his
Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved. He that believeth on
him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God. – John 3:16-18

He saved us according to his own purpose, not because

we deserved it. We cannot earn salvation.

35
Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling,
not according to our works, but according to his own
purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus
before the world began, But is now made manifest by the
appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath
abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality
to light through the gospel: - 2 Timothy 1:9, 10

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet

to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and
hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: In
whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the
forgiveness of sins: - Colossian 1:12-14

We have been saved by his grace independent of our

efforts. We do not work for salvation; it is a gift that
God gave us all by himself even though we did not
deserve it.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of

yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any

36
man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:8-
10

Jesus’ mission to earth was to save mankind. The Old

Testament is full of prophecies of Jesus and how he
was to come and deliver man from sin and preserve
him from the wrath of God. The prophet Isaiah had
seen this;

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,

and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our]
faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him
not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our
sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God,
and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our
transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray;

37
we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD
hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. – Isaiah 53:3-6

Jesus carried all the punishment for our sin, all the
wrath of God was vented upon him. He suffered the
penalty for man’s sin, all our iniquity and transgression
and the judgment we deserved was laid on him. The
bible says it pleased the Lord to crush him (verse 10);
Jesus was crushed in order that man should enjoy
eternal salvation, and he took away our sin.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and
saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the
sin of the world. – John 1:29

From all this we can establish that salvation is 100% the

work of Jesus. Man does not play any part in the
salvation process; Jesus saved us all by himself. He is
the author and perfecter of our salvation, everything
concerning salvation is all his work.

38
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith;
who for the joy that was set before him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right
hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2

He delivered us from sin all by himself.

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet

to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and
hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: In
whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the
forgiveness of sins: - Colossians 1:12-14

39
How is Man Saved?
Despite the fact that Christ died for the whole world
(John 3:16. 17), not everybody is saved. It is the man
that receives Grace through faith that is saved.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they
have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of
whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear
without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except
they be sent? as it is written, how beautiful are the feet of
them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad
tidings of good things! – Romans 10:13-15

So in order for a man to be saved, first of all there

should be somebody sent to preach, man then has to
hear what the preacher preaches and believe in that.
After believing, then the man calls on the name of the
Lord and is saved. What is this message that the
preacher needs to preach?

40
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I
preached unto you, which also ye have received, and
wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep
in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that
which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and
that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures: - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

This message is called the Gospel of Christ and it has

definite terms, it speaks of the death, burial and the
resurrection of Christ. When a man hears this message
and believes it, he is saved.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the

power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. – Romans 1:16
KJV.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the
world; but that the world through him might be saved.

41
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. –
John 3:17-18

There is no other message that will save man, only in

Christ is man saved.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel,

that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye
crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him
doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the
stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is
become the head of the corner. Neither is there
salvation in any other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved. – Acts 4:10-12

A man is saved when the Gospel is preached to him and

he believes in it. Jesus has already done what is needed
for salvation, all that is left is for men to believe and
receive.

42
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is
the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might
have life through his name. – John 20:31

By believing in Jesus (specifically the message of his

suffering on behalf of man and the glories that follow)
man is saved, all it takes is to just believe. This is what
Paul and Silas told the Philippian jailer when he asked
how he could be saved.

And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep,

and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword,
and would have killed himself, supposing that the
prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice,
saying, do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he
called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and
fell down before Paul and Silas, and brought them out,
and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said,
believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be
saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the

43
word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. –
Acts 16:27-32

This is exactly what happened with the Ethiopian

eunuch. The eunuch was reading a portion of scripture
from Isaiah 53:7-8 but he did not understand what he
was reading (Acts 8:27-33). However, things changed
when he met Philip.

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of

whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some
other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at
the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And
as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain
water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what
doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou
believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he
answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son
of God. – Acts 8:34-37

Hear Peter’s words referring to Jesus.

44
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to
testify that it is he which was ordained of God [to be]
the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets’
witness that through his name whosoever believeth in
him shall receive remission of sins. – Acts 10:42-43

Salvation is not a set of steps to achieve or some rules

to follow, it is a ‘one step’ process and it is very simple;
believe and you are saved, just like that.

How Long Is Salvation?

Salvation is complete and forever.

In keeping with [the oath's greater strength and force],

Jesus has become the Guarantee of a better (stronger)
agreement [a more excellent and more advantageous
covenant]. [Again, the former successive line of priests]
was made up of many, because they were each
prevented by death from continuing [perpetually in
office]; But He holds His priesthood unchangeably,
because He lives on forever. Therefore, He is able also to
save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and

45
for all time and eternity) those who come to God through
Him, since He is always living to make petition to God
and intercede with Him and intervene for them. –
Hebrews 7:22-25 AMP.

Jesus is the guarantee of salvation and thus it is as long

as he lives (which is forever), it has no time attached to
it, no limit.

and he entered once for all into the most holy place not
by the blood of goats and calves but by his own blood,
and so he himself secured eternal redemption. For if the
blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow
sprinkled on those who are defiled consecrated them and
provided ritual purity, how much more will the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself
without blemish to God, purify our consciences from
dead works to worship the living God. – Hebrews 9:12-
14

For by one offering he has perfected for all time those

who are made holy. – Hebrews 10:14

46
The sacrifice of Jesus is forever, once a man is saved, he
is saved forever. In Christ you are guaranteed eternal
security.

I have written these things to you who believe in the

name of the Son of God so that you may know that you
have eternal life. – 1 John 5:13

We have this life right now and Christ is our guarantee.

The believer in Christ is guaranteed 100% eternal
salvation. The work of Grace is permanent, once you
are saved, you are saved forever! THE BELIEVER CAN
NEVER LOSE HIS SALVATION!!

47
Final Words
So today you should understand that Jesus is the basis
upon which you are saved and his work from the cross
until he entered into Heaven and God released the Holy
Spirit. That is why the disciples had to wait for forty
days for the Holy Spirit to be released because the
blood had to be accepted. In the book of Revelation,
God was holding the scroll and there was no one that
was worthy to open the seal but Jesus stepped in
because he was the only one that could open the seal.
Christ came and broke the seal and released it for
everybody and God said accepted, and when Christ
was accepted that means you were accepted too. So
God’s acceptance of you is based on Jesus, how I pray
that you believe in this Jesus, believe in what he has
done for you and your faith will make you whole. Don’t
wait for the last minute to believe, it doesn’t work,
listen to the Gospel and believe – that alone guarantees
salvation FOREVER.
