NH&S ALERT # 3
TO: All Hungry Jack’s Employees
FROM: Jenny McKie
DATE: 30 January 2020
SUBJECT: Health Advice - Coronavirus

Dear Hungry Jack’s Employees,

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) a new coronavirus is causing an outbreak of pneumonia like
illness first reported in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. This outbreak began in early December 2019 and
continues to expand in scope and magnitude. There are some cases of Coronavirus identified in Australia.

Taking the above into consideration I would like to announce that all staff who have returned or maybe returning
from China (including Hong Kong) in the past two weeks, are NOT to attend their workplace for a total of 14 days
from their departure from China.

The following protocols are to be adhered to in the event that you have travelled from China (including Hong Kong)
after the 14th January 2020

- You must refrain from returning to the workplace for a 14 day period from your departure from China
(including Hong Kong). RSC employees may be able to work from home.
o Fulltime and Part time employees can apply for sick leave for their normal working hours. If you have
exhausted your sick leave entitlement than leave will be without pay
Employees financially impacted by the above may request emergency assistance through the Employee foundation,
terms and conditions apply
- Please contact your Manager as soon as possible (if you have not already done so)
- Once the 14 day quarantine period is lapsed, you are able to return to work and a medical certificate is no
longer required
- If you develop a fever, a cough, sore throat or shortness of breath within 14 days of travel from China
(including Hong Kong) or have contact with a person with confirmed coronavirus, you should immediately
isolate yourself from other people. Contact you GP or your emergency depart or call the health direct helpline
1800 022 222 and seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Your Manager will be in regular contact with you throughout the period of quarantine to ensure appropriate
support is provided. Thank you for your support to these necessary measures that have been put in place to protect
all Hungry Jack’s employees and our Guests. I will provide further updates as necessary and will continue to monitor
all advise provided by the Government Agencies.

If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your Manager or contact your local Public
Health Unit on 1300 066 055 for advice or visit the dedicated Health information page at
