iE ULTIMATE 30-DAY LETTERING PLANNER A 4-week practice guide for hand lettering beginners What is the 30-day lettering planner? It’s a four-week scheduled planner to help lettering beginners practice effectively and gradually build up their lettering skills. It will help you learn and improve by gradually increasing the complexity of the daily tasks. We all know that practice is essential, but the way you practice has a significant impact on your progress. For who is this planner for? This planner was created for complete hand lettering beginners, however, anyone is welcome to follow the four-week practice program. The main focus will be on learning the very basics of drawing letters. The 30-day lettering planner is ideal for those who want to learn the art of lettering, but don't know where to start. NOTE - If you are a complete beginner, i would recommend that you first trace the alphabets (several times) included in the hand lettering guide. How should you use this planner? Follow the prepared tasks throughout the four weeks. There will be a task for 6 out of 7 days of the week - you get one day off to chill :D Each week will be focusing on the basic styles | covered in the hand lettering guide - serif, sans serif, and script lettering, The last week (fourth) week will focus more on combining the styles, learning the basics of layouts and shading. The whole idea is to move from simple to more complex tasks gradually. IFit takes you more than one day to complete a task - that's fine! Learning is not a race, so take your time, enjoy the process, and have fun. After each completed day, make sure to put a big fat checkmark over it! VS an acu) Objective - The first week's objective is to learn the most basic lettering style - sans serif. Having a clear understanding of sans serif will allow you to learn serif lettering with ease. We will start with shorter words and each day increase their length. The key focus of this week is ~ + Learning the basic construction of letterforms - using the "wooden board" technique. * Creating consistent letterforms + Understanding how to space the letters correctly. Sac Objective - In the second week, we are increasing the difficulty and focusing on a more complex lettering style - serif lettering. You will be using the knowledge gained from the first week and apply it to this week's tasks. The letter construction, as well as elements of consistency and spacing, will remain the same. In my opinion its the most fun style to work with, but also the most challenging one. As mentioned in the lettering guide, Its foundation lies in cursive writing. Pay attention to consistent angles, counter spaces, letter spacing, rhythm, thickness, proportions, etc. For now practice | would suggest to practice only lowercase letters. During this week, you will be picking your own words for practice.
