Typescript Analyses
Complete a typescript analysis of the counseling session in the following format.
There is space here to complete 3 typescript analyses. You can chose to
complete more if you would like.
Typescript analyses consist of the following areas: (a) time stamp, (b) verbatim
transcript of the interaction, (c) type of response/skill, (d) intent of said
response/skill, (e) outcome of using said response/skill, and (f) alternate
response/skill. Make sure you have all 6 area sufficiently answered (even if you
think you had a good response, you MUST come up with an alternative
response).
I have included an example below of what a typescript analysis should look like:
e. Outcome of Using Said Response/Skill: The client said “probably” and got
quiet for a while. I then asked if they wanted to role play how the
conversation may go.
f. Alternative Response (note the skill at the end – does not have to be the
same as what you originally said): “You are feeling confused on what to do
as far as talking to your girlfriend about this issue.” – Reflection of feeling

Helper’s Journal and Critique
This page adds to the earlier pages in an attempt to focus on the helping
student’s personal reactions during the mock session. This form will help the
students to review their thinking and feelings. Please answer each question
sufficiently.
4. What did I learn about myself during this session? (Any increased self-
understanding? How am I feeling about myself?) How did this session
help my learning and the learning of the client?
a. Am I particularly positive or negative about the student/client's
expressed concerns?
