Write a letter to your friend explaining the

importance of joint family.

Dear Sudha,

I hope you are keeping in good health and enjoying your summer
vacation. Your last letter saddened me as you had nothing but
complaints against your grandparents.

I know they are orthodox and conservative n their ways and manner of
thinking, but you must give allowance for that. You don’t realize how
lucky you are to be living in a joint family with a doting grandmother
who not only looks after your needs when your parents are at work, but
also makes your favourite traditional dishes for you. I feel quite lonely
when my parents are at work. Our grandparents tell us lovely
mythological stories and also all about how it was during the days of
yore which takes us back into history. Joint families are fast
disappearing and that is a loss for the grandchildren as well as the
grandparents. The emotional, financial, medical, physical support
provided in an extended family cannot be denied.

Sorry to be sermonizing but I hope you will try to adjust and enjoy the
presence of your grandparents. Write back soon.

Thanking you,

Yours affectionately,
XYZ
