I came to visit again Dumitru to student’s accommodation in
Cambridge where he was responsible with checking and fixing incomplete working in the current universities’ blocks, work being provided by the Stace Construction and Property Consultants. When I arrived at the site, Dumitru greeted me and was happy to have me there offering few information about the whole projects. We headed to the main office where I was supposed to be offered a short induction, part of the company’s policy for everyone that visits the site. After I finished the induction, I could see Dumitru preparing for the day as he was supposed to bring the list of snagging and discussion relevant for the health and safety. T/503/2723 2.1, 2,2, 3.1, After that we went to meat his team made up of 4 workers 3.3, 3.4; 4.1, that had different qualifications considering the fact that the 4.2 tasks included all range of work; there were a plumber, electrician, carpenter and a painter. While observing Dumitru he made sure everyone is wearing their PPE and offered some short information about risk and hazards from the site and how to overcome potential harms to them and others. I could see him speaking easily to his team and encouraged communication in such a way that could promote two-way dialogue for a positive health and safety culture at work. He assigned responsibilities according to each level of competency and ensured that performance 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and quality are considered while communicating effectively. 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, He also advised them that any problems should be reported T/503/2723 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and dealt with immediately (T/503/2723 – 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2) Dumitru told me that all the decisions he was taking was according to company’s policies and requirements and when he had any misunderstanding was asking his manager for clarification. They where supposed to finish by that time and also to maintain tidiness and make sure they dispose the waste accordingly. He advised where all the materials, tools and equipment needed to the works and how to store them after they finished (F/503/2725 – 1.1, 3.1, 5.1, 6.2, 6.3, 7.1, 7.2, F/503/2725 1.1, 3.1, 5.1, 8.1, 8.2) While observing Dumitru I could see how he was checking 6.2, 6.3, 7.1, the work to be according quality standards and project 7.2, 8.1, 8.2 requirements and even took some notes to discuss with his manager about one of the tasks it was on the list, changing skirting in one of the kitchens as the materials where not J/503/2743 provided and they needed to do it in a different day 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, (J/503/2743 – 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1) 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 He was discussing with his team and acknowledged good performance and facilitated discussions. Some of the tasks were agreed with all the team members and accepted recommendations or proposals (L/503/2744 – 1.3, 2.1, 2.5, L/503/2744 1.3, 2.1, 2.5, 3.2, 3.3) 3.2, 3.3 Overall, Dumitru gave appropriate advice and information and applied the principles of equality and diversity and explained at all times the course of tasks. He engaged his team in discussions to be sure that they understood and agreed with them in order to reach the required outcomes of M/503/291 the proposed method of work (M/503/2915 – 1.2, 3.1, 4.1, 5 1.2, 3.1, 4.1, 5.1) 5.1 In the picture, Dumitru prepared all the paperwork that his manager gave him that morning and was preparing the day activities and the course of working, including assigned responsibilities and tasks.
