1. Brief Summary:
Troubleshooting document for diagnosing a fault with and replacing the QOR switch on the 9711QOR antennas.
2. Checklist:
Verify voltage
Verify Resistance
3. Theory of Operation:
The 9711QOR System effectively operates as two antennas in one with a 97” C‐Band reflector and 50” KU‐Band reflector
integrated into one pedestal the operate can switch between the two frequency bands at the touch of a button. The C‐
Band feed assembly also supports both circular and linear polarization again switchable from the DAC meaning no
reconfiguration of the RF on the pedestal is required.
Once the command has been inputted into the DAC to switch from “reflector A to reflector B” (which ones which?) The
QOR switch will then switch the RF feeds from the selected reflector into the below decks via the dual channel rotary
joint, passing the pedestal communications and receive signal from the selected LNB on the receive line and the transmit
output from the satellite modem to the selected Block‐Up Convertor (BUC).
4. Test Procedure:
Measure the voltage and resistance figures from pin to pin as per the following table and verify the specifications are in
tolerance for the relevant measuring point. Any deviation from the specified tolerance is an indication that the QOR
switch is defective and needs to be replaced.
4.1. Verify Voltage:
1. Apply 24VDC to pin 13 of connector J2 (the PCU–Pol D‐sub connector).
2. Apply ground to pin 24 of connector J2 (the PCU–Pol D‐sub connector).
3. Measure between the following points, 24VDC should be preset +/‐ 1.2V, if not the QOR switch is
defective and needs to be replaced.
4.2. Sub‐category of the main topic.
1. Once verified the PCB is passing the DC voltage as per the previous step, measure the resistance as per
the following procedure verifying the measured value is within tolerance. If not the QOR switch is
defective and needs to be replaced.

5. Replacing the QOR Switch:
5.1. Tools.
5/16” Wrench/Spanner
2mm Flat Blade (Terminal) Screwdriver
#1 Phillips Screwdriver
Loctite 242
5.2. Procedure.
Procedure for replacing the QOR switch, Sea Tel kit part number: 136823, (QOR switch part number: 133595‐1).
*Caution: Power down the pedestal before following this
procedure.
1. Using a 5/16” wrench disconnect the SMA cables from
the defective QOR switch.
*Note: A configuration chart of the connections is prvided
in section 6 of this document.
2. Using a 2mm flat blade screwdriver disconnect the
harness (D‐sub) connectors from the defective QOR
switch.
*Note: You may want to note the cables orientation to
reconnect them.
3. Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver remove the 4 screws
securing the QOR switch to the PCU and remove the
defective QOR switch. Save the hardware for future use.
