Inequalities Quiz
Using a Google Form quiz is not ideal, but it is time to assessment your understanding. If you need to use
words to write "greater than or equal to" or "less than or equal to" because you don't know how to input the
symbol that is fine. You will also describe in words how to graph the inequality solutions because I don't know
how to do it digitally. Please do your best and be patience with me.

* Required

1. Write an inequality to represent the statement: The maximum occupancy in 2 / 2

the Jacuzzi is 15 people. *

X ≤ 15

5. Jennifer needs at least 50 signatures for her petition before she can go to 3 / 3
the beach with her friends. So far she has collected 34 signatures. Write an
inequality to represent this situation. Then solve your inequality to show how
many more signatures she needs. *

X+34 ≥ 50 => inequality

X ≥ 16 => solution

6. In order to maintain safety, a school bus can hold up to 55 children. So far, 3 / 3

there are 31 students onboard the bus. Write an inequality to represent this
situation. Solve your inequality to show how many more students can safely
board the school bus. *

X+ 31 ≤ 55 => inequality

X ≤ 24 => solution

7. In order to achieve the March Challenge achievement on her Apple Watch, 3 / 3

Ms. VanDeventer must log at least 155.1 miles of exercise by walking or running.
If she has already gone 72.8 miles, what is the minimum distance in miles she
will need to run or walk to earn this achievement? Write an inequality to
represent this situation, then solve. *

X + 72.8 ≥ 155.1

X ≥ 82.3

8. Lucy wants to spend her money on mini tennis balls that cost $3 each. If her 3 / 3
budget for toys is $65, how many mini tennis balls could she buy? Write and
solve an inequality to determine how many mini tennis balls she can buy. *

3X ≤ 65

x ≤ 21. 6 repeating

But this means that Lucy can but 21 mini tennis balls, and have 2 dollars left over.

13. Explain the differences between inequalities and equations. Include AT 2 / 2

LEAST 2 things that make them different *

Inequalities are unbalanced, have sides that are not equal, and equations equal the same on both sides. In
equations, the variable usually is one thing, in an equation, there are many possibilities for what the variable
can be.
