Reflection Paper

Curriculum evaluation refers to an ongoing process of collecting,

analyzing, synthesizing, and interpreting information to aid in understanding
what students know and can do. It refers to the full range of information
gathered in the school district to evaluate (make judgments about) student
learning and program effectiveness in each content area.

As a future teacher I realized that curriculum evaluation is not just a

one-time process to evaluate student’s level, knowledge, abilities and skills
but rather it is a process and a tool that is being observed and applied for
most of the time. My role as a teacher is necessary because I must have to
determine the most effective way of ensuring that assessment activities are
integrated into instructional practi and also must be focusing to improving
teaching and learning as well.

It is important to consider what curriculum evaluation is, is it just a tool

to simply understand what students can do or is it more than that?
Considering this would lead to a clear objective why it is needed, and as well
as considering how to evaluate a curriculum, there are different models for
curriculum evaluation that are useful because they help us define the
parameters of an evaluation, what concepts to study and the procedure to
be used to extract important data.
