ABSTRACT

Day by day the construction activities like construction of independent houses, bridges, roads, concrete
buildings, steel buildings, industrial buildings, shopping malls etc are increasing. Due to these vast
construction activities there is a usage of large area of available land. At present there is a lot of
development in horizontal direction took place and hence the availability of land for further
construction activities is less. Now a days, lot of people and families are diverting or moving to urban
cities for their livelihood, ultimately increase in population and hence more demand for houses for
shelter. Because of no land availability for further construction activities people are moving towards
development in vertical direction. Vertical development is referred to the construction of building in
vertical direction, i.e., multistoried buildings or high rise buildings like 5 storey, 10 storeys etc. One of
the main problems in these multi storey buildings is analysis and design by manually.

The present project work is step towards this to find the solution for above said problem. There is lot of
software’s available for analysis and design of buildings. Present study objective is to analyze and design
of the 11 storey’s building with manually and using staad.pro software and compare the results, thereby
assessing the feasibility and applicability of staad.pro software.
