Gray Family Scholarship Statement of Purpose
The Gray Family Scholarship Fund, Inc. was formed on ___, 2007 for the sole purpose
of granting scholarships to graduating North-Central Texas high school students bound
for college or Texas college students, enrolled in a State College or University who have
demonstrated scholastic ability and who demonstrate financial need and are unable to
fully cover the costs of higher education.
In order to be eligible to receive a scholarship, the successful applicant will have
participated in University Interscholastic League (UIL) Mathematics or Sciences
competitions, graduate with at least a 3.25 GPA and score at least 1100 on the Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT) or 24 on the American College Testing (ACT) Exam. Where there
are multiple scholarship applicants and the scholarship fund is not able to approve and
fund all scholarship requests, the Board of Directors will review the applications on the
basis of financial need, UIL participation and success and GPA, in that order. If the
Board finds that no applicants meet the rules for scholarship awards, no scholarship will
be awarded for that year. All decisions by the Board of Directors for the awarding of
scholarships are final.
Applications for scholarships must be submitted by May 1 preceding the first Fall
semester in which the graduating Texas high school student will be enrolled in a Texas
state college or university. Scholarships will be at least $ 500.00 per semester and will be
disbursed by check directly to the University or College that the student will be attending.
