Failing Forward by John C.

Maxwell

In freshman year, everybody had to take the class called Economics. Normally students
would take it senior year but out school is advanced and teaches us at a higher level. Our
teacher was Mr. Jacob and is one of the best teachers at the school because he teaches what
he values and is very true to us. He doesn't hold us back from what we can gain from. He lets
us grow. Everyone in economics hated that we had to read this book, but i was truly interested
to see what this book is all about. I was excited to read this book. Little did I know how much
this book was going to impact my life at the time. Throughout reading this book, I was loving
every minute of it because it was actually helping me out and actually surprised me that I can
really learn alot from this book. At first I was kind of skeptical about how this book was going to
help in the long run but it did.
This book helped me in so many ways that I have actually read the book multiple times.
This book has helped me become more confident in myself when I fail. Before i would really
beat myself up whenever i failed because i thought my failures would define me. But that wasn't
true at all. I also learned that i shouldnt be taking myself so hard all the time. I was trying to be
my best all the time and show no weakness at any time. I was very hard on myself and never
gave myself any wiggle room to actually have a day to feel things or just take a minute to
breath. But this book has taught me that it's okay to take a break some time and show
weakness. If you don't show weakness, then you are hiding form your own self. You have to be
true to self or you won't grow. And that really hit me when I realized that I had to give myself
some slack on life.
After reading this one book, I have learned that I actually enjoy reading self learning
books. I have actually read almost 10-12 books just in this last year because they have
impacted my life so much that i just keep reading more and more and reread multiple books
again.
