Preface
As you carefully read and study this book, you will undoubtedly come
to appreciate the universality of Mr. Parker’s mind and recognize the
universal truths revealed through his writings. Use the newfound
knowledge to develop your universal potential and come to enjoy the
beauties found in establishing individuality of mind and universality of
purpose.

During Mr. Parker’s lifetime the reference to man and mankind had a
universal meaning that included all people. Rather than alter the
original writings by changing all such references to humans and
humankind, interpret these references as universal terms that include
everyone on an equal basis.

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time
Prologue
How strange that man has always felt such a strong akinship to
magic powers that many have sought through strange rites and magic
words to reveal all the secrets of nature and the answers to human
problems. There is such a power, but it is not revealed through
incantations, nor mystery; it is the basic key to science, time, space,
economics, health, balance of mind, and to every conceivable thing,
including human nature and destiny. This profound power is not
unknown, although it is misunderstood in its entirety. It is the power
to analyze, theorize, weigh, measure, and deduce, to arrive at definite
and logical conclusions. Of such is the Power of the Word and the
Divine Principle of Mathematics working through the Cyclic Law,
which reveals the quality and unfoldment of the human mind through
time.
Time represents the unfoldment of the evolutionary forces of
nature working in the finite plane of existence through our calendar
principle of seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years, and
throughout the ages; it is based upon the movement of the earth around
the sun. When man fully realizes that numbers are symbols of Divine
Intelligence as well as being mathematical gradations, that they have
quality as well as quantity, he will realize the relationship of season to
time. A plant grows according to time and season, which are
predetermined. Thus is God discernible through his own laws,
governing the growth and unfoldment of all life upon the earth.
Perhaps, you as a businessman have been dreaming of the key that
would reveal the nature and trends of our economic cycles. We are
told: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose
under the heaven," (Ecclesiastes 3:1), the secret being to find the
nature and experiences relative to time, so that it might be revealed in
a practical way.
It is only logical to assume that the reason and plan of being is
contained within being itself, and it is man's duty to become the
interpreter. There is a magic key to the growth and unfoldment of
human mind, as well as to that of all existence, such as the nature of
the ages. This magic key is the Cyclic Law that reveals the
relationship of economic and natural conditions to the divine
measuring stick, mathematics, as the contents of this book will reveal.
Sincerely,
Yours in service,
Alfred J. Parker

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time

In this, the greatest age of science, system, and specific detail,

where the completion of contracts embracing millions of dollars is so
vital, where the successful completion of national programs involves
national pride and perhaps future security, it is of paramount necessity
that the greatest of all mysteries be solved: man's greatest investment
of all time, and that is TIME itself.
Have you ever stopped long enough to study time in all its
ramifications? It is a most profound, yet satisfying, study and reveals
practically all the answers to life, especially the specific problems of
the businessman. There is an ancient passage so often quoted without
logical translation, as follows: "To every thing there is a season, and a
time to every purpose under the heaven . . . a time to plant and a time
to pluck up that which is planted." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2) There is only
one way to understand anything and that is to go back to the basic law
of cause and effect. One must understand cause before he can
logically discuss effect.

Thou Shalt Not Steal—Time

What is man's relationship to time, and to cause and effect? Time
represents the life span of all things—the great ages, the birth, life and
death of man—all brought down to mathematical gradations where
man can count the ticking away of his life, second by second. It is the
only thing that a man can really steal, because he does not create or
own it; it cannot be borrowed nor returned and, once gone or spent,
can never be retrieved. That is why in Christian parlance one is
admonished, "Thou shalt not steal." (Exodus 20:15) Apparently, man
was placed here upon earth as a steward, to have dominion over all
things, within the period of time. It is a natural conclusion that man
was intended to make use of it in a constructive and progressive way,
that each age of time may exceed the previous one in human progress
toward a specific mental goal, where man would make constructive
use of the fruits of the earth and emulate divine qualities. This is the
natural phenomenon that all religions and philosophies use as their
basic principle, yet without any definite and practical plan. Science is
definitely taking advantage of time, with the result that man is
hundreds of years ahead of himself, scientifically, whilst mentally and
spiritually he is ages behind; consequently, science is perfecting
powers of destruction so much more vast than man's humanitarian
progress is capable of controlling. This is the universal aspect of time
as related to the ages and to the masses.
Let us bring time down to a logical and practical basis and ask,
"What is time?" To some, it represents an unknowable void, a never-

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 2

ending or perfectible vacuum that is discernible only in mental and
scientific growth in which the history of man is written upon the scroll
of life.

Time, A Natural, Universal Phenomenon

To a thinker who realizes the basic reason behind all being, time is
a natural unfoldment of life, and therefore, best expressed as the law of
growth, based upon the principle of seeding and harvest in every phase
of life. Seeing that it is a natural phenomenon, its relationship will
have to be defined logically so that its effect will be discernible in the
affairs of men.
To digress for a moment from the actuality of time as a calendar
and systematic principle of mathematical deduction, we must first
establish time as a natural and universal phenomenon, and then bring it
down to a practical and workable basis as applied to the affairs of man
and especially along business lines. When you, Mr. Businessman,
fully realize the quality and potency of time in your business affairs,
you will have control of a power so vast as to be beyond your wildest
dreams.
When you look around and observe the uncompleted plans of men:
business programs that never work out as outlined, leaving much
unfinished and unsuccessful business despite most detailed agendas
and financial backing, you wonder how your planning and time could
be so far out. No wonder Robbie Burns said, "The best laid plans of
mice and men gang aft agley." A businessman should be able to plan
his business agenda with mathematical and systematic certainty. The
reason he cannot do so lies in the fact that he only recognizes the
quantity principle of time and not the quality. A man knows how
much time he has over which to measure his efforts for the year, but
disregards the admonition, "To every thing there is a season, and a
time for every purpose under the heavens," (Ecclesiastes 3:1), a time to
sow seeds in every phase of endeavour.

Rhythms of Nature
Now, let us discuss this quality and quantity side of life and time.
Time is deduced from the rotation of the earth around the sun. This
gives us our calendar; it also gives us the seasons, which represent
quality because each season represents a quality of weather and
temperature in which grow the many species of flowers. Thus does
time express quantity and quality, with quantity giving time, distance,
and calendar. Each species of plant has its own season in which it is
planted and will not naturally grow out of season. This natural law is
applicable to people, who also have their own individual cycle or
seasons of time, both quantity and quality. Scientists have known for

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 3

many years that the quality of time runs in rhythms known as the
Cyclic Law; they also know that these rhythms bring certain
conditions such as dry seasons and wet ones, sun spots, electrical
disturbances, high and low tides; they affect the breeding and death of
animals in their natural habitat and they denote the migration periods
of certain animals. Earthquakes, the exact movement of Halley's
comet and other heavenly bodies, the fat and lean years in crops, as
well as epidemics such as the plagues of the past, all manifested in
certain rhythms of time. Coming closer to home, we observe the
changing bull and bear markets in grains and stocks and what is known
to business as booms and depressions in all major industries, in real
estate, in general depressions, and the movement in individual cyclic
conditions. These movements are based upon the number nine, the
basic rule of mathematics.
Science has known about these rhythms of nature but so far has
never discovered the key that would unlock the exact knowledge of
application in a practical demonstration.
The proof of this principle makes one wonder why the knowledge
has not been discovered and revealed before, for truly, time is man's
greatest investment; it is his very life, his happiness, success, health,
completeness in all things, his material and personal balance; it gives a
clear picture of the present and of the future and replaces the element
of chance with an exact mathematical rule.
All nature comes under the one great universal law of growth and,
properly to understand this unfoldment of nature, a close study of plant
life will reveal the picture. The principle of mathematics is based
upon the trinity, or thirds; thus three times three symbolizes nine. The
finite scale of natural growth is based upon nine; thus we will apply it
to plant growth as follows, each mathematical gradation standing for a
degree or phase of growth, with the number nine representing the
completed pattern.

The Pattern of Plant Growth in Each Cycle

1st Cycle Seeding Time The seed is planted in the ground.
2nd Cycle Duality or Division The seed starts a root and stem.
3rd Cycle Manifestation Time Stem appears above ground. It
becomes acclimatized.
4th Cycle Test Period Growth of plant is suspended
temporarily whilst the life force is
diverted to strengthening the root
system. Plant is tested for coming
growth or failure.

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 4

5th Cycle Active Growth Strengthened root system adds
power for concentrated growth.
Plant sprouts branches and leaves.
6th Cycle Budding Time or Buds are formed and fill out if
Procreation plant is healthy, a promise and
indication of fruit depending upon
care and soil.
7th Cycle Flowers Appear Plant completes growth of leaves
and branches, and rests from
labour or active growth. It diverts
energies to size, colour, and
fragrance of flowers.
8th Cycle Fruition Flowers drop petals, and fruit or
seed pods ripen. Fruit is plucked.
(Period of accumulation in
business).

9th Cycle Close of Cycle What fruit is not picked falls to

the ground. During fall and winter
time, seed pods are shaken by the
winds and distribute seeds for the
next season and cycle. Fruit lies
under leaf mulch and rots, leaving
seeds to create a new plant in the
Spring.

Thus do we relate the old cycle with the new to show the law of
growth working through plant life.

A Natural Law for Human Mind

In the following table I will relate this natural law to activities of
the human mind and to business affairs, to show the basic analysis
used in formulating a business agenda that will unfold according to
natural growth. It teaches how to apply certain forms of business
activities to certain years, months, or days, yes, and even to the hours.
A plant never slips its growth—everything is in continuity. The same
applies to business affairs. There may be many phases of business
activities in your agenda, such as new business, establishing a clientele
through association or advertising; this is the "formative period" in
business. Then there are the new contacts made and the business of
becoming established, weeding out poor contacts, putting one's roots
deeper and justifying one's efforts. There is the period of

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 5

systematizing business methods preparatory to enlarging and
facilitating one's growth and preparation for promotion to benefit from
one's efforts in the following period. There is the period in every year
when money goes out almost faster than it comes in, when one is
assailed from all sides with bills. This is the period of redistribution of
wealth so as to facilitate buying power. We cannot make a profit on
what we owe and so we pay out to complete our obligations.
There is always that refinancing problem when funds for growth
are urgently needed. Is the time ripe for borrowing funds? Can one
plan ahead on it with certainty? When should one expect the most
accumulative period? When should one buy and sell commodities or
properties at the best price? When are the times for a successful
department sale? How should one analyze the integrity of a business
client or his business? How can one tell the future financial conditions
of any stocks and bonds? When should one buy and sell? When
should changes or mergers be made? When is the best time to take
that vacation? to have a family? or to increase overhead expenditures?
When is the most propitious time to meet and interview that special
client or financing committee? Every action pertaining to your
personal and business activities must be arranged according to your
cycle chart, and your efforts combined with the natural and
mathematical law, a divine or universal law, which provides the right
time and conditions for your every action.

A Key to Remove Uncertainty

How many business agendas are completed as expected? How
much is left to chance, and why? If you are engaged in competitive
business, why not use the key that will remove uncertainties and
confusion and put you ahead of the gambler type, who lives in hopes
and blind faith? You are under the cyclic law; I can prove it through
your past mistakes and actions. A plant grows, not by chance but by a
natural pattern; why don't you learn to gain by observation and
application to the natural laws, and thus remove the “myst” from
mysticism?
How many times have men started into business only to fail, then
some time later again go into business with complete success? Why?
"There is a time to sow and a time to pluck up that which is sown."
Man, being out of tune with nature, invariably does things at the wrong
time: this is how bull and bear markets are formed. The public
invariably buys just at the time it should be selling and vice versa.
This is how markets are loaded and why success upon the stock
markets is negligible. How completely can one prove the
dependability of the knowledge of cycles in the real estate profession?
One should know when to make contacts; when to dicker for best
results; how to recognize a good, clean deal; whether or not to hold

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 6

off, and for how long; when to collect money promised; when to be
careful of a proposition; how to understand and influence clients and
business associates.

A Badge of Ignorance
Millions of American business executives suffer through an ulcer
of the stomach, necessitating operations and the use of drugs: this fact
has been linked with their success as though it contributed to it. It
actually is a badge of ignorance of the laws of nature that govern
harmony and peace of mind, and health. The reason for the ulcer is
too much intense concentration and worry, an exhausting application
to long hours, and a negligible attempt to assume marriage
responsibilities. This destroys happiness, marital understanding, and
health; however, the price one must pay who does not have knowledge
of the Cyclic Law. One must pay with sacrifice of health and
happiness what one could gain with wisdom, understanding, and peace
of mind. Why remain on the casualty list?
Let us study the following chart as applied to mathematics and the
law of growth—the Cyclic Law—relative to the nine-year cycle as
previously applied to plant growth. These cyclic conditions can be
related to yearly, monthly, daily, and hourly periods.
1st cycle This is the year or month to seed or start business
activity, under proper cyclic conditions.
2nd cycle Build through association, make friends, join clubs that
create good contacts. Your success lies through
others—make yourself known. Remember the old
adage: "One good turn deserves another." Make use of
associations and entertain the right people. Help others.
Be a good fellow. This could be a happy and fairly
successful year. You will make many friends. The
proper type of friends determines your success.
3rd cycle Continue the above, but be careful of a loose tongue,
criticism, and too much sociability of the wrong type.
The first half of the year could be very promising. Save
finances against a test period ahead. This year will offer
many promises and opportunities which should not be
pursued; carry on with what you started two years ago.
Do not pull up the roots. It is best to complete
unfinished business by September, if possible;
otherwise, you are bound to have a disappointment.
You will feel the first indication of a let-down in July.
Expenses could be heavy, involving a serious decision.
Over-financing or extended overhead in the first part of
the year could bring you a heavy test with some very

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 7

adverse conditions the following year that could be
disastrous to your business affairs. If you follow the
advice to save during the first half of this year, then your
troubles will be minimized. The plans or suggestions of
the first half to make a change could well be disastrous
if carried through. Sit tight. "Save and cut down on all
overhead expenses" is the keynote of the third cycle.
Your integrity and that of your business, your patience,
and forethought will be tested by the close of the year.
4th cycle This is what is termed the test year. (The same applies
in the monthly cycle). It represents in plant life and in
your business affairs the period when the shoot, having
appeared above ground, must become acclimatized to
the changing weather of the early spring; your affairs
will be tested. The plant is creating a stronger root
system to take care of growth above ground. The same
applies in business and personal affairs. Growth is
taking place, only beneath the surface; i.e., it is not
apparent and this could be quite disconcerting if you are
not prepared, and could influence serious decisions. In
business parlance, it represents similar conditions. Your
actions and growth will be tested should you have
become misled by one of the spurious opportunities that
seemed so desirable in the first half of your last, or third,
cycle year. Increased overhead and any gamble entered
into last year will be heavily tested this year and could
cause you to have to refinance and adjust your affairs.
Lack of good judgment and finances could well be your
undoing. Only expert advice could save the day. It
does not have to be tragic, but it will be a test year. Do
not broaden out or assume financial responsibilities
above your normal ones. Do not make any major
changes, invest, buy, or sell in a major way. Strengthen
your financial position by reducing overhead.
Systematize your affairs and prepare for activities of the
next five years. Be careful in your living habits or
nature will catch up with you, and your health could
suffer. "Draw in your horns" this year and play it safe.
Just carry on cheerfully and "stay with the ship."
Consolidate your business. This is the cycle year in
every businessman's life when, if he has not been wise,
he could be forced out of business. Be careful in your
driving. Watch the other fellow.
5th cycle This is the year or month that you have been waiting
for: one of great activity, of expansion, and of business

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 8

promotion. It is the year when you could expand your
investments to a great degree and try out schemes for
promotion. There could be changes and travel, and
many new and valuable contacts made. Take advantage
of opportunities. Try to relax between activities, and try
not to worry or your ulcer could bother you severely;
i.e., if you have one. If you follow this advice, you will
never be bothered that way. It removes uncertainties.
This could be the most active and progressive year of
the last five years, bringing into realization the
seemingly good opportunities that were offered in the
early part of the third cycle year, but which did not
materialize satisfactorily. This is the cycle to test your
wings. Keep busy; do not be afraid to take a chance.
Let action be your keynote this year.
6th cycle Like the budding time in plant life, this year should
show good promises and opportunities for future
growth, promises of financial accumulation for the next
three years to the close of the cycle. This is not an
accumulative year, but allows you to clear all
indebtedness to leave you free for the next three years of
the cycle. Plan wisely; refinance for greater business
expansion; make important decisions and settle up
indebtedness for pay-out is the keynote of the year.
This means consolidation of your affairs for future
growth. Invest with due caution. The next two years
should repay you for the care and conservativeness of
the third and fourth cycle years. This is not the year in
which to liquidate your assets or to sell important
holdings, but to accumulate more real estate and good
investments for a successful and accumulative
liquidation two years hence in the months of July and
August.
7th cycle This represents the opening of the bud in plant life. In
business, it means the beginning of your accumulative
period for the next three years at least including the
present year. The first half of the year could seem slow,
but do not be fooled, for after July matters could turn
over very quickly and wonderful opportunities present
themselves. The efforts of the past six years should
begin to repay you the latter half of the year, although
the month of June could represent the darkness before
the dawn. Do not make any changes that month, but sit
tight. Get out into nature more this year and take those
trips you have promised yourself and your family.

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 9

Relax your thinking and your body, or any undue
tension this year could affect the heart, lungs, or
bronchial organs. Do not expect it; avoid it. Like plant
life, the flowers of accomplishment should begin to
show on your business plant and you should be able to
relax more from extreme activity, particularly the
second half of the year.
8th cycle This is the year of accumulation, the best and most
accumulative of the nine-year cycle—if you are
prepared. It is a good year to liquidate assets, to sell
property at the best price, or for a quick buy and sell. It
is your year to make money and buy and sell at your
own price, but you should have a cycle chart to advise
you on the best months and days in which to act. This is
what is erroneously called your lucky year; however,
nothing is gained without effort, so you merely reap
what you have sown. This is your fruition in business
accumulation and in finances.
9th cycle This is the closing year or winter time of your cycle, one
in which to reflect over the past years and plan
accordingly for the next year's sowing for the coming
cycle. This is not the year to start anything new as
things are merely working under the surface preparatory
to next year's activity. Its financial conditions should be
the carry-over of last year's accumulation and
liquidation. Take it easy this year and learn to serve
your fellow man. This is the year in which to give, to
work in service to your fellow man. Do not start any
new enterprises or invest to any extent. If possible,
travel and see the world and do not worry. Think and
plan for the future, starting next year. Spend more time
with your family, if married. If not, look around this
year for it is particularly vital in close associations
relative to the emotions. You will feel that you need
more love and understanding this year. July is a very
emotional month which could bring a test in this respect,
or someone could come into your personal life.
If you study the first chart dealing with the principle of growth and
the unfoldment of nature, you will readily see how all things in life are
subject to this law and quality of growth. It is a demonstration of
quantity (time) and quality (the nature of). The same law applies to
the ages in respect to the evolution of life, of species, and the physical
and mental evolution of man. This knowledge gives you the
mathematical key to life and thus removes the gamble and uncertainty
in human effort in all phases of life. We know that life as it is

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 10

presently understood is nothing but a gamble, for out of the millions of
men who go into business, only a very meager number succeed—and
then only with an intense application through which they develop their
ulcers, or become drug or tranquilizer addicts.

Man, Without Mental and Spiritual Wisdom

Anyone respecting Divine Intelligence and knowing that man is
the steward of this earth, being endowed with thinking and creative
ability and having dominion over all things here, must believe that
there are certain natural laws of being and a key to them. How else
could man assume supremacy over all?
Man has developed his ego instead of wisdom. This is why he is
lost in the finite plane of materiality for which he is paying the toll of
mental confusion, sickness and disease, enmity, and degeneration, with
ultimate destruction—the same as in the past. Man has had many
chances in bygone ages but he never seems to learn his lesson. I
suppose there will be a time when he has earned the right to the divine
privileges he so foolishly believes are his due rewards in this age.
Man is destroying everything that is refined and good, and his time is
spent in chasing money and attempting to overpopulate the earth,
regardless of the scriptural quotation: " . . . and better it is to die
without children, than to have them that are ungodly," (Ecclesiasticus
16:3), meaning without mental and spiritual wisdom.

All Life Must Follow a Pattern

Man has been given the key to constructive progress if he will
search for it. We are told, "The kingdom of God is within," (St. Luke
17:21), which means that wisdom, which is the Reason of being, is
contained within being itself. All life must follow a pattern, for life is
the pattern. Man is the eyes that should perceive it and follow the plan
constructively. Man has ever sought to understand the source of his
being, but his efforts have been nullified by diverse theories. He has
set up false gods, such as the search for financial accumulation, to the
sacrifice of all that is fine. This is why his system of financial
illusions is killing him and why nations are existing upon dope,
tranquilizers, and drugs. Man's mind has become lost and no longer
understands itself and its instrument, the human body. Man has
become so involved in the ramifications of his own living that he is
completely lost as far as spiritual objective is concerned. The world is
in a state of severe degeneration and man is too blind and confused to
see it. Our civilization is rotting at the core; termites are busy in the
foundation, despite the new paint job we continue to apply to the
superstructure. It is not necessary, to prove the truth of this statement,
to mention all the major problems we have with us. The tragedy lies

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 11

in the fact that man assumes these personal and national disasters
without question or attempt to find the cause and cure.

Man Has Lost the Art of Living

Man must live, so he must become somewhat involved in business
methods; his greatest trouble is that he has lost the art of living, if he
ever had it, because he does not understand the necessity of that most
vital power, balance. Man goes off the deep end in everything that he
does. In the early periods of time, man had to learn to defend himself.
Nowadays, he has made defence a major and national industry, for
profit. There are times when some of the most intellectual people
wonder about the reason for our present degeneration. They do
nothing about it because they try to solve human problems only
through the mechanics of life and not through wisdom, or the
knowledge of human mind.

Sum Total of Human Thinking

If you are the practical type of person, you will question the
foregoing in respect to man's status in this old world of ours with its
human transgressions and degeneration. However, being a practical
nature, you will appreciate that there is a very vital principle involved
that, if understood, would allow you to realize the spiritual connection
between the state of affairs, the time, and the reason of man's
degeneration as related to the cyclic law of time. You may take the
attitude that it does not concern you, or ask, "What can you do about
it?" You must admit you are a personal part of it and therefore vitally
interested in, "Where do we go from here?" Everything must have a
start and finish, and the completion is naturally the sum total of human
thinking from the start of the age.

Sowing and Reaping

Herein, lies the practicality of this theory. Everyone is interested
in his future and that of his nation, and on every hand we hear people
asking: "Do you think there will be an atomic war, and when?" This
information is of vital interest and concern to all people for it could
well concern their very existence. To a businessman, it involves his
life's efforts and investments and would allow him to plan for
whatever future there may be, or perhaps might stir him to use his
financial power to forestall such destruction as would follow atomic
warfare. In the past, when warfare was a major industry, yet without
so great a sting as today, the conditions called business were always
affected and stimulated by the thoughts and possibility of war, as in
rising markets and prices. It was a well-known fact that if one could
accurately foretell the starting of war, one could use the knowledge
profitably, which some did, not because they had a hunch, but because

Man’s Greatest Gift, Time © Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd. Page 12

they were advised and their advisors knew of the practicality of the
law of cycles. They knew by the time of sowing that they could
deduce the time of reaping which, in this case, was war, demonstrated
through human affairs. This principle should be known and practised
by governments and in national affairs, for seeds of any endeavour can
be planted only at a specific time in the cycle if success is to be
assured.

Time and Life are Synonymous

Every day, month, and year, man's mind is supposed to grow and
unfold new ideas and new activities; every human being should have a
specific purpose and goal, the activities of which evolve according to
the gradations of his cycle, just as does the plant. Time and life are
synonymous. All life manifests within time, it being the gradations or
steps and the measuring stick of the growth of human mind which is
supposed to fill the ages with a specific intelligence relative to that
age. For instance, we live in what is termed the Christian age, in
which man should become cognizant of the source of his being known
as the Christ Consciousness; yet in lesser periods during the great ages
man must make material progress so that the negative and positive
phases of life are balanced and man learns to walk the middle path.

An Objective for Living

Man must live, but he must have an objective for living, or
otherwise he becomes submerged in living without actual mental and
spiritual progress; in which case, degeneration becomes the path.
Why? Because man knows not the nature or season of his existence,
he is unable to coincide his efforts with the pattern of life. Today, man
has set finance, greed, nationalism, and selfishness as the pattern of the
age, and wonders why he is beset with epidemics and major diseases,
and why each year brings greater confusion in the seasons and the
weather to disrupt man's activities and progress. On every hand, we
hear such remarks as, "The weather and climates are changing and
becoming very unpredictable."
What greater power is there in the universe than human mind,
which has been given dominion over all things? Without wisdom,
which is the study and knowledge of mind and nature, man is bound to
become confused and destructive and an interference to the
harmonious rhythms of nature. What else could have such a vast
influence? It is man's duty to understand the pattern of life and to
understand his own mind with its limitless potential, because his mind
is his life. "As he thinketh in his heart so is he:" (Proverbs 23:7)-in
health, degree of happiness, and success. Every man should have
some philosophical knowledge of life and the laws that comprise the
limits of his being. If nature works through definite seasons and laws,

man should understand those laws with which he should coincide his
efforts and thus take advantage of them for the benefit of himself and
his family.

From the Cradle to the Grave

The following demonstrates how the knowledge of cyclic
conditions may be used in all ages of life. Let us follow it from the
cradle to the grave.
Everyone is born upon a specific calendar date; his time of birth
and the cyclic year of the universal cycle determine his individual
cycle and the position that he is born into in his cycle. One's cycle does
not start at number one of one's birth year; one is born into the cycle
and has to complete it before starting a complete new cycle.
Let us apply this to a young baby. The birth date of the baby
shows us what time of his cycle he is in and how the conditions could
affect the baby. One knows whether or not the following months are
going to be sensitive ones and what part of his anatomy could be
affected, such as with head colds, weak stomach, constipation, lung or
bronchial trouble, or mastoid, etc. One knows the specific nature of
each month and can act accordingly, especially in regard to feeding,
clothing, handling, and proper sleep.
Parents may be concerned with their children's time of play during
childhood; whether or not adverse conditions could cause minor
accidents or interferences; when to exercise special care and
understanding; whether or not conditions could cause constipation,
irritability, or fevers, (this depending upon the care and feeding of the
child); when to guard against tragedies such as we read of in the
newspapers, of kidnapping and molestations. All conditions show in
one's cycle chart.
In teenage, a knowledge of cyclic conditions can bring much
confidence, and remove mental and physical tension. You can gain an
understanding of the time to start endeavours for a successful
conclusion; what days are best for accomplishment; when you can
look forward to examinations knowing the cycle conditions involved;
knowing that the date and cyclic conditions at the time of meeting
someone denotes the constructiveness or destructiveness of such a
friendship; when to be very careful in association and how to act
accordingly; the best time for a vacation; whether or not any
undertaking will be successful; the best days for shopping; and when
to be careful of losses.
I once noted a very tragic combination of conditions that would
manifest in a boy's cycle in the near future and wrote the date down so
that his mother would remember. I wrote that, upon a certain date, the

boy should be kept home and away from all hazardous conditions;
otherwise, there would be a tragedy. The day was a Saturday and, on
the Friday, the boy asked to be allowed to take a group of younger
boys for a hike and picnic the next day. His mother said, "No," and
read his chart to him. The next morning, bright and early, the group
arrived and said they could not go without the older boy. His mother
put sentiment before logic and let him go, with a caution. That was the
last she saw him alive—he fell into a canyon and was killed. The
mother knew it was a tragic or adverse period—the chart said so;
nevertheless, she broke the law and paid for her ignorance. How many
times do such fatalities occur: the disappearance of children and other
major tragedies? Yes! They can be avoided, but not through blind
faith.
This knowledge helps in the choice of a marriage partner and
reveals the propitious time for marriage for a harmonious relationship.
The time of marrying is largely contributory to the happiness and
success of a marriage, thus determining the outcome. It also suggests
the proper period for having children so as to facilitate the birth.
Childbirth at certain periods of the cycle can cause disastrous results;
past experiences testify to this statement. A woman may have two or
three successful deliveries and the fourth may prove disastrous to her
health, or interfere with the completeness of the child.
In maturity, if, as we are told: "To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven," (Ecclesiastes 3:1) then
the affairs of man could not be exempt from this law. To demonstrate
the use of cycles in business affairs, I will relate an incident: I was
approached by a man who felt it particularly vital to dispose of some
very valuable property within a limited time. He had been given a
very good offer and wanted to know whether to accept it. My answer
was: "Do not sell until next month, at which time you will receive a
better proposition." He took my advice, but so anxious was he to sell
that he questioned me afterwards as to the logicality of the move and
expressed his fear of not having another chance for a sale within the
next month. I hastened to reassure him and gave him the actual date
of the expected contact for sale. He sold on the date advised at a
better price and a cleaner deal. Thus, there is a time and a season for
everything. Perhaps, you have been given delivery dates of certain
goods that have been promised your customers. Without a knowledge
of cyclic conditions, you could not guarantee time of delivery. How
many times have you been held up by goods lost in transit—weeks lost
whilst the freight car is being located?
So, you want to start into business. You have the capital and the
technical assistance. But, are the conditions auspicious? Yes, the time
you start your business creates the cyclic conditions under which you
operate. So many people start into business with money and

confidence, but how small are the number of successes! Why? You
answer the question logically. How about that vacation? Can you be
sure of not losing any business opportunities in your absence? Or are
you sure that you will not encounter driving difficulties through
adverse conditions? How about the driver who arrived at the scene of
the accident in time to be a party to it, with tragic results? An earlier
or later vacation would have avoided the accident. There is the right
month for a vacation, both from a business and pleasure viewpoint.
Perhaps, you desire to broaden out in your business activities, to make
a change, a merger, or a sale. Is the time propitious?
How many times have you wished you had not invested, or bought
something that did not come up to expectations? How could you tell?
Naturally, by the cyclic time the proposition was offered to you. How
about that court case that could cost you money if conditions are not
right on that date? What would be the right date to have the case
reviewed? Would cyclic conditions warrant an appeal? How would
you choose your personnel so as to get the best results from them?
When should you not have that operation that might well prove
disastrous? Are you and your partner in relative, good cyclic
conditions for success?

Know Result Beforehand

Even to know of the future condition of crops—the type of season
and weather expected—would come as a boon and a blessing to many
business men. To know things of a vital nature makes life more vital
and complete, for it creates greater self-confidence. Is not business a
system with vast ramifications? A man may learn all the ethics of
business, but without the knowledge of the cyclic conditions as
affecting time and man's efforts, even the most astute businessman is
confounded; to wit: the disastrous market crash of 1929, which
completely ruined many millionaires. Money has power only under
certain conditions: not in major market crashes, hurricanes, floods,
earthquakes, and numerous other so-called natural conditions. How
many fortunes could have been made and saved had men known of the
cyclic conditions and the time element with which to plan their affairs
and activities?
We read of summit meetings and conferences between leaders of
major countries, and they are used to affect investment markets; only
before the completion of such meetings, the result is not known to the
public. It is quite possible to those understanding the cyclic influences
to know the result beforehand. One knows by the time they are
started, the nature of the action and the intent, even before the
completion; but the completion and result can be diagnosed. Whether
or not human actions will be successful depends upon the time of
seeding of such action.

We even wonder why a man in his prime of life and apparently
healthy would suddenly drop dead, leaving his business affairs in
confusion. We are told the cause is cerebral thrombosis, but this is not
the cause, only the effect of the state of mind upon the body. Had he
known himself, he would have known about the result of his thinking
upon his health and the time the harvest could be expected—unless he
changed his thinking and outlook upon life. Is this not a practical,
logical, scientific, and basic conclusion of life—with its individual
steps to mental and spiritual attainment? Without such knowledge the
human race is bound to degenerate into mental confusion and chaos.
We cannot attribute such conditions to a deity or a devil, but must look
for a more logical and natural interpretation for human degeneration.
The churches place the onus upon their God's shoulders in the biblical
quotation that "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit," (St. Matthew
7:18), thus implying predestination.

Involution and Evolution

There are many theories, all human concepts; of course, as there is
no actual and provable evidence of any divine dispensation of wisdom
to any human being or church; and it is claimed the Scripture is
divinely ordained. Why has it been translated and mistranslated
through the centuries? Man has never been given the proper
perspective of involution and evolution.
The word “involution” means to become involved. The spirit
becoming clothed in, or involved in, the flesh; or God the Principle or
Reason of Being becoming a living, breathing entity through physical
birth in the form of man: is the spiritual translation of involution. No
one knows exactly what God is, because we read: "No man hath seen
God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the
Father, he hath declared him," (St. John 1:18), and also it is written:
"And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of
me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape."
(St. John 5:37)
However, we do know that there must be the Reason of Being, or
there would not be a physical reality. The Reason is termed the
nucleus, the Absolute, God, Jehovah, etc. Taking it from a Christian
concept, it could be explained as follows. Involution is a process of
God, or the Reason of Being, becoming involved in reality or physical
life, the lowest form of life being the water molecule. From the lowest
form starts the principle of evolution, or the progression of the spirit
up and beyond materiality, rising higher in the scale of evolution, up
and beyond species—then, through the channel called human mind,
into the more abstract planes of concept, perspective, and conscious
knowledge. The greatest manifestation of God the Principle or
nucleus is that of mind.

Divergence between Reason and Reality
Reason must always be contained in being because it is the cause
of being. And, reason is conceived only through mental phenomena.
Thus the divine channel of intelligence and consciousness is expressed
only through human mind.
Mind is the greatest mystery of this life; we know it is the channel
of intelligence—our only means of thinking—and yet, it does not
generally manifest the spiritual quality of its own origin; thus we have
good and evil. The reason of this duality has never been properly
translated; a proper understanding would dispel the foolishness of the
devil concept and would logically express the reason of the divergence
between reason and reality, or God and man. If God is the essence of
balance, goodness, wisdom, and love, why then has his involutionary
process created confusion, discord, and so-called evil? This is the
question of the age.
If reason is contained in being, why does it not express through the
human channel called “mind”?

“Clothed in Flesh”
We know that what is termed God, actually and logically expresses
the Reason of Being and the Consciousness of life, or Supreme
Intelligence. This power is translated as spirit or abstract, i.e., being
above and beyond all human sense, emotions, and human mind. It is
the highest conceivable power. This Universal Consciousness, so
generally referred to as the Christ Consciousness, is the reason of
being; thus life is the involutionary manifestation of Consciousness, or
God become “clothed in flesh.” Thus are joined the highest and the
lowest forms of life: the positive and negative principle, or the two
direct opposite forces of life.
When God, the positive Principle, becomes involved in the finite,
or physical plane of existence, the highest becomes involved in the
lowest and subject to his own natural laws of material existence. Thus
is spirit born into flesh. We now see that Consciousness has become
involved in matter and manifests under the finite law of growth. The
spirit is seeded into the flesh every time a new born baby draws his
first breath of life. This power of Divine Consciousness, often termed
wisdom, now has its physical instrument through which it desires to
manifest but cannot do so until the maturity of the body, the emotions,
and the mind; and then only if the mind desires to reach out and search
into the reason or origin of its own being, for mind is the only physical
channel of intelligence—starting at its lowest level of emotional
desires with an unlimited growth potential to a final mergence or
conjunction with its source of Consciousness. This state is often
symbolized as an “at-Oneness with God.”

Spiritual Destiny
When man has learned to merge his human mind with its divine
source of Consciousness (wisdom), he has fulfilled his spiritual
destiny; the spirit has become involved in, or seeded into flesh, thus
changing its state of universality to that of human individuality. This
starts the cycle of involution at the lowest point of human existence;
and then evolution, growth, and unfoldment take place until human, or
mortal, mind progresses from a material and limited concept to a
universal, or Godlike, state of mind. Thus does Universal
Consciousness become clothed in mortality and then, through mental
growth and concept, evolve back again to its original state of Spiritual
Consciousness; these states represent the imprisonment of the spirit
within man, who actually represents “the cross,” and its emergence
through spiritualized concept of man; thus has Christ Consciousness
been freed from the cross of mortality and individuality.
“Individuality” is the direct opposite to that of “Consciousness”;
thus mortal life is only a reflection of God, or the opposite and lowest
manifestation—just like one’s reflection in the mirror is not the
original because it is backwards and directly opposite, and cannot be
touched, nor has it any feeling. It might better be termed an illusion or
only an imitation of the real thing. Our mind is in the same category in
relationship to Divine Consciousness; thus, we have good and evil—
the highest and lowest states of mental existence. Birth brings the
submergence of spirit or Consciousness into flesh and all physical
limitations. For mind to grow requires seeds of wisdom, system, and
order; mental balance and understanding must be planted into every
child’s mind through theory—through reason and logic.
